What is your favourite beer brand?
Re: What is your favourite beer brand?
Bought some hophouse 13 the other day because I remembered seeing it mentioned in here. Good recommendation. It was a nice lager, and I don't usually like lager.
Captain Lawrence is amazing, though I only had it once. There's a pub near me with its own brewery attached and they make the only other IPA I've ever had which compares to how I remember CL.

Re: What is your favourite beer brand?
A pub near me has CL on tap at the moment, popped in at the weekend when the wife was having a haircut and it was superb. I've emailed the pub to see how long they're keeping it for as they usually switch things quite regularly so I want a few more before it goes.skalpel wrote:Bought some hophouse 13 the other day because I remembered seeing it mentioned in here. The HopHouse 13 is decent - a real easy and enjoyable drink, I quite regularly pick up a few for the weekend now

Some beers that I enjoy:
Light summer-y beer—Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc
Default wheat beer—Erdinger Weissbier
Easy drinking beer—Mill Street Organic Lager
Since I can't post links yet, I'll post the description given by the liquor retailer in Ontario: "Pale yellow; Light floral, citrus aromas; Light to medium with malty, floral flavours and balanced hoppy bitterness." It's 4.2%.
Default ale of choice—Beau's Lug Tread Lagered Ale
As above, a description: "Golden yellow colour with a thick head; aromas of fragant hops, citrus and roasted malt with yeasty tones; dryish, medium bodied, fresh, smooth and creamy, with forward hop and grain/cereal flavours; crisp and refreshing on the finish." It's 5.2%.
Citrus hops explosion-y beer—Amsterdam Boneshaker Unfiltered India Pale Ale
Description: "Hazy medium copper; aromas of pink grapefruit, orange peel, pineapple, honey and resinous hops; on the palate it is medium bodied and well carbonated, with flavours that execute what the nose promised and a bitter, hoppy finish." It's 7.1%.

My brothers hate it, they're more pilsner and cider fans. Some people tell me it's too swampy or skunky for them. I love the flavour and don't mind such a strong bitter finish. I wouldn't say it's a pound 'em back at a party kind of beer like a Budweiser or Corona or something frat bros drink. In the sense that you probably won't be drinking like a dozen of them. I'm a lightweight and so I have a nice buzz going after 1-1.5 and after 3 or 4 I'm right out of it.Bodacious Benny wrote:Like the sound of the last one

Yeah, decent beer shouldn't be swigged back like piss such as Carling or Fosters. Drinking decent beer for enjoyment is miles better than drinking to get hammered.thomasmalthus wrote:My brothers hate it, they're more pilsner and cider fans. I thought that since I'm becoming a NUFC fan, I'd better give one of these a try:

My verdict:
A little bland; nothing too exciting but certainly drinkable.

Have you tried it with a Parmo?!Chappy wrote:Nowt wrong with Brown Ale - it's sound
Anyway, not had time to read through all of this, but a couple of mates and I are working through a book called "300 Beers to try before you die", some interesting beers in that which some of you may enjoy reading the descriptions of your beers of choice.
Innis & Gunn available south of the border? They do some amazing beers, verging on the 9% at times depending on the cask they come from. I've sat next to someone, both of us with the Canadian Redwood finish and his was 7.4% and mine was 8.3%...

Yeah you can get some of the Innis and Gun in supermarkets. The rum finish and a couple of others are pretty easy to find.ScottW1886 wrote:Have you tried it with a Parmo?!Chappy wrote:Nowt wrong with Brown Ale - it's sound

I quite like a strong beer. I had a Brewdog Mr President last night which is 9.2%, and often have Brewdog Elvis Juice which is really nice. Can't remember the strength but I'm sure it's about 7%. Hadouken is another very nice strong drink.
