Re: The ToonForum Whisky Club
I think The Glenlivet 18 is a fine choice to celebrate promotion... might even order a couple of bottles of Whisky Exchange!

Been sampling the Bulleit Bourbon and Rye over the past few weeks. Think I actually prefer the rye. Also got given some Black Bush (Bushmills) which started my love affair with whisky. Still love it after all these years

To avoid punishment, they lured staff they had hired illegally in for a "meeting" which turned out to be a Border Agency sting .Micky Quim wrote:Byron burgers is immense. They do shots of whisky with your beers and the house bourbon is Bulleit

Haven't tried that one. The Balvenie 17 year old DoubleWood has been on my wishlist for a while so may get a bottle for my birthday in summer.
I start a new job next week so got a bottle of Woodford from my boss as a leaving present.

Got a bottle of Knob Creek last night. It was between that or Maker's Mark. Chose Knob Creek because I'm immature. Actually really like it

The 17 year old Doublewood is the dogs bollocks... one of my favourites - it's gone up in price though, used to be £77, now it's like £91.Bodacious Benny wrote:Chappy wrote:Tried The Balvenie 16 year old Triple Cask last night, good stuff

The only time I tasted Maker's Mark I was already a little buzzed, so anything would have tasted nice at the time, but I think I made the right choice with a bit of knob. Probably slots into my top 5.Bodacious Benny wrote:Haha tbf Knob Creek is nicer than makers mark imo.
The only other option I've seen mentioned on here that I haven't seen in any stores is Woodford reserve. I must try it sometime.

Couple of guys from my old work gave me a bottle of Buffalo Trace bourbon when I left. Based on how little I knew them I'm guessing it's like a tesco or Asda own-brand bottle but it's actually really good. Kind of hoping it is a cheap gift because I want to buy some more

It's one of the first ones that I used to buy regularly when I first got into bourbon. You can generally get it for £20 a bottle in most supermarkets so it's in direct competition with the likes of JD and Benchmark Bourbon. In that price range i'd pick Buffalo Trace everyday out of those three.MultipleJesuses wrote:Couple of guys from my old work gave me a bottle of Buffalo Trace bourbon when I left.
