DRY JANUARY 2017
Anyone giving it a go this year? Im going to try again, lets hope I get beyond my record of 10 days in 2016
My motivation is fear for my health - drank far too much this year and in particular this month.
I cant see myself losing much weight but I could do with a period of sobriety and plenty exercise to undo some of the badness Ive consumed lately

It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.

I haven't drunk since June (apart from a leftover half a pint a couple of days ago). How can you only manage ten days? Most people do longer stints than that by accident don't they?

Re: DRY JANUARY 2017
I gave up for a month in September 2015, once the first ten days or two weeks are out the way it's alright.
I'm cutting down in Jan. I'll be at a party tomorrow so drinking, but then I won't have anything until Friday (friends leaving do at work) and after that mid-Jan when I'm meeting a friend in London.
Well that's the plan....My general policy is that I can drink any 3 days in 7...

On your wedding anniversary you should tell the missus you're giving it up permanently then get absolutely shitfaced and tell her April Fools.overseasTOON wrote:Giving up until the 1st April.

Went out, had a great meal. She wanted to sleep so I took her back to the hotel, put her in bed and f***ed off to a bar for another 4 hours of drinking.

Dr told me I was fat, high cholesterol, high blood pressure. So no drinks for me since the summer. I've lost 40lbs since then! Saved probably a grand too.

Probably couldn't do it, not going to either. Good luck though to any that are trying.
