Re: Luis Enrique to quit Barcelona at end of season
I think... They like DNA Barcelona.
Sampaoli (Sevilla)
Eusebio (Real Soceidad)
Valverde (Athletic Bilbao)
There are the posibilites in my opinion.

Pochettino or Koeman (because of the Barca link) will get it IMO.MultipleJesuses wrote:Imagine if he goes and spends £200mil in his first windowDuke wrote:People suggesting Wenger . Hasn't got past the last 16 of the Champions League in 6(?) years. No league wins in 13(?) years
I think Pochettino would be the best choice.
I dunno

If they were looking for a one year stop-gap appointment while they waited for their number 1 choice then there's no reason they wouldn't go for Wenger if he doesn't renew his Arsenal contract. Considering his experience plus the fact that they wouldn't have to pay a penny in compensation I'd say he'd be a perfectly feasible choice if they did have to wait a season to get their preferred man.

Wenger has outperformed both in terms of league finishing, silverware and Europe.Duke wrote:Pochettino or Koeman (because of the Barca link) will get it IMO.

At ARSENAL. He has failed massively whereas the other two haven't.TBC wrote:Duke wrote:People suggesting Wenger . Hasn't got past the last 16 of the Champions League in 6(?) years. He's been Arsenal manager for that time though. Getting drawn against Bayern every year, even when they win the group. He's more qualified for the Barca job than anyone they've appointed since Van Gaal in 2002.Duke wrote:People suggesting Wenger . Hasn't got past the last 16 of the Champions League in 6(?) years. Never going to happen. They'll appoint a former player or someone who hasn't been s*** for years.ALF wrote:He's been Arsenal manager for that time though. I don't think they will hire Wenger, but although you'd think Arsenal could have found a way to win at some point in the last decade, it isn't as if they were ever favoured to do it, and the criticism of him often seems harsh. He maybe hasn't won trophies, but the level of consistency he's maintained is too often underrated.

Without turning this into a Wenger thread, they've still underachieved massively. The polarisation amongst fans is hardly surprising.I'm over Colo wrote:I don't think they will hire Wenger, but although you'd think Arsenal could have found a way to win at some point in the last decade, it isn't as if they were ever favoured to do it, and the criticism of him often seems harsh. Think Enrique has done the right thing. He's done well during his time there.

There is a big job to be done there, clever time for Enrique to step aside.

It's an impossible job. How do you replace Iniesta, Suarez and biggest of all, Messi?Bodacious Benny wrote:There is a big job to be done there, clever time for Enrique to step aside.

I suppose the theory is that they would have ready made replacements in their academy but I honestly haven't heard about anyone coming through.ALF wrote:It's an impossible job. There likely won't be another Messi for years to come anywhere in the world, so it will be hard for anyone to keep up the level of play their fans will have grown accustomed to.MultipleJesuses wrote:I suppose the theory is that they would have ready made replacements in their academy but I honestly haven't heard about anyone coming through.ALF wrote:

Probably not for a few decades I'd say. I remember people talking about Munir as "the next Messi" but I haven't heard tell of him for a good while.I'm over Colo wrote:There likely won't be another Messi for years to come anywhere in the world, so it will be hard for anyone to keep up the level of play their fans will have grown accustomed to.MultipleJesuses wrote:
