Create Your Own Game
Taken inspiration from the GTA V thread. If you could create any game you wanted, what would it be?

This Is Connect 4 2012
Like a seahorse in the night, he rides with haste to his beloved's domain.
He is the silent guardian, the practical idealist, the man of peace prepared for war.
He is a Mackem.

Re: Create Your Own Game
An open-world prison game where your actions determine a host of different things, such as being transferred to higher security parts of the prison. You'd have to do missions for different people and it would have an influence meter like the early GTA games for example if you did something for some black guys you'd piss off the white supremacists etc.
Kindly deeds done for free!

Yeah, you'd have to press the corresponding buttons as they appear on the screen like a fight in 'Shenmue'.Wedge Head Tiote wrote:Would there be a keep hold of the soap missionbiggeordiedave wrote:An open-world prison game where your actions determine a host of different things, such as being transferred to higher security parts of the prison. Re: Create Your Own Game
FF7 remake. Massive amounts of achievements (lots of obscure ones), massive amount of unlockables, loads of new game+ options that switch things around (item location, enemy battle strategies etc), new side missions. and none of the advent children animated gayness
great game idea btw BGD

Re: Create Your Own Game
It would also be pretty awesome if you were able to break out of the prison, but it wasn't a focus of the game or even mentioned at all in any story lines or missions. But then when you escaped you were in an absolutely massive city filled with various gangs and a GTA2 style respect system for them, whilst also constantly avoiding police - get caught once and you're back in jail under higher security.biggeordiedave wrote:An open-world prison game where your actions determine a host of different things, such as being transferred to higher security parts of the prison. What would the ultimate goal of this game be?skalpel wrote:It would also be pretty awesome if you were able to break out of the prison, but it wasn't a focus of the game or even mentioned at all in any story lines or missions. I would like if they had it completely player run and made it an MMO, with certain people playing guards and police and some playing prisoners and gangsters.

Re: Create Your Own Game
I'd been thinking about how to add an escape aspect to the game and couldn't think how but this would be perfect. I'd imagine with the stage games are at now, it wouldn't be too tasking to create an entire map in addition to a huge prison map. I'd want the major focus of the game to be that your actions determine your environment and the story, but more than just killing X makes Y your friend and vice versa like GTA IV.skalpel wrote:It would also be pretty awesome if you were able to break out of the prison, but it wasn't a focus of the game or even mentioned at all in any story lines or missions. Re: Create Your Own Game
Well the obvious idea would be clearing your name or something, or getting at somebody who has wronged you/your family/gang etc. in the past. I haven't thought that much about the story other than it's set in a prison . The MMO idea is great and would probably be quite popular, but wouldn't appeal to me at all if it actually existed. I prefer games that I can play offline and that have a story.Ramone wrote:What would the ultimate goal of this game be?skalpel wrote:

Re: Create Your Own Game
Maybe you have one acquaintance on the outside who comes to see you during visiting hours every now and again, and you can extract info from him on whoever wronged you or even try persuade him to sneak weapons or drugs in for you .
The idea of things you do or say having a direct affect on everything in the game from then on is a great one. It's f***ing annoying in games where certain people are invincible because the storyline needs them to be or certain characters not giving a s*** that the previous day an 'unknown person' (ie. you) broke into their house, torched it and murdered their whole family.

don't think the MMO idea could ever work.
get some tasty achievements in there, e.g. you have unlocked: prison snitch

Re: Create Your Own Game
Not so much full game ideas, but rather core mechanic ideas I've had for a while that I'd like to see implemented;
Atrophy - The protagonist starts the game strong, ends the game weak. Rather than engagements arbitrarily upscaling to ridiculous levels and/or enemies becoming roided up bullet sponges to increase difficulty, the player weakens throughout the game and has to deal with this. They might be able to fight groups of enemies face-to-face early on, but as they lose power the focus becomes more on survival, avoiding combat, stealth and outwitting the enemy. This could also be tied in to the player's playstyle, using powerful abilities could take a chunk of power away, or carrying more weight increases their rate of attrition.
Karma - Take the good/bad black/white morality of games to a level beyond the protagonist being a hero/badass only in story segments. Good actions net the player good karma and a generally easier game, bad actions; bad karma and the game screws them over. For example, it could have an effect on enemy accuracy, critical hits, amount of enemies, environmental hazards, loot, other characters help/hindrance. This could play-out on both long and short term scales, for example if you're a neutral to good player, but you kill someone for that cool thing they have, the game will react negatively for a short while before returning to normality. Basically good = easier, bad = harder, the player can strike their own balance based on their own morality, or desire to be challenged. Could be an interesting test of gamer's motivations, they might be playing good but have to fight temptation to do bad because they know there will be repercussions, or playing as a dick but feel drawn to changing their ways in order to have an easier time.

Re: Create Your Own Game
Superb ideas, especially the first. Knowing that at the end of the game you will become a powerless, penniless bum who gets easily swatted aside and yet you're still desperately battling on in vain at an increasingly difficult rate.Cal wrote:Not so much full game ideas, but rather core mechanic ideas I've had for a while that I'd like to see implemented;
