I've seen someone make a formation porn with 10 strikers and Kante in goal lol.

Would love to see some old faces come back onto this site especially moncur's border reivers from 606 he said he'd only come back once Ashley went.

Well Newcastle do need a manager to get them back into European competition, the King was the last man to get us there... Maybe that name will be relevant again <scratch>

It's been a while since I last posted on here but had to come back and comment on the takeover. It's good to hear other fans congratulating us after all we've had to put up throughout the years but I can't understand the negative comments coming from other fans on social media and football forums. Even the Daily Mail has an article talking about Blood Money. I'd be more embarrassed and conflicted if the money which has and will be financing us originated from illegal activities.
Khashoggi, Yemen Civil war, Women and LGBT rights what's that have to do with the takeover? I have a feeling those who are opposed to Saudi Arabia's supposed role or implication in these affairs are using the takeover to bash us and make us feel bad. Most of the other PL fans who are criticising the deal seem to be seething with jealousy at our luck <laugh> (yes you browsing as a guest :bandit: ) . Other fans from other European leagues seem to be confused at the logic of buying a club in an overly competitive league. But whatever ... we shouldn't be distracted from the negative press and just enjoy the moment from now on <laugh> <laugh> <laugh> <applause> <applause>

Yep - it has been a long time since there was this feeling around the prospects of the club!

And the irony of all the people complaining about human rights is hilarious. Most are voicing their concerns via Twitter/Facebook/WhatsApp (all of which PIF have shares in), probably have drunk in Starbucks (which PIF have shares in), have probably been in an Uber taxi or had UberEats (which PIF have shares in), watched a Disney movie (which PIF have shares in), filled up their car at Shell petrol stations (which PIF have shares in)...all of that acceptable but support Newcastle means you support Human Rights abuses apparently <laugh>

By that logic everyone having a coffee in Starbucks should be lambasted. And don't get me started on those monsters tuning in to watch the lion king or frozen. Absolute monsters.

It's got quite a lot to do with the takeover, considering the Public Investment Fund of the country responsible for those acts has bought the club.

Sure am glad that we don't live in a country who has committed atrocities, killed innocent civilians, waded into wars with no just cause etc.

Like I said earlier, it's the difference between conscious and unconscious contributions.

For one, PIF aren't the majority shareholders of any of those companies. More importantly, you never see images plastered all over social media of Mohammed bin Salman alongside Mickey Mouse; that isn't the case with NUFC. Even though the Crown Prince won't be directly involved in a formal sense, the PIF are still happy to directly associate him with the club through informal channels. Just take a browse through all the bot accounts on Twitter who are constantly pasting his face over the badge. Even when you ignore those bots, plenty of Western 'news' outlets are happy to stick his image over some pound signs to exhibit the club's 'new wealth'.

At the end of the day, if you can have that shoved in your face and still feel fine about plonking your backside on a grey seat, each to their own. However, I struggle to abide by people who are happy to point their finger to somewhere else and simply pass the buck.

Your post is full of probablys. One certainty is that our club is directly owned by the sovereign state of Saudi Arabia. If you're happy to ignore that certainty, go ahead. However, I get the impression that many individuals are trying to paper over their own deep doubts by resorting to whataboutism.

Yeah I think there's a big difference between the fund investing quietly in companies to make money and buying a football club solely for the image of it. They aren't going to make money of us just as they aren't making money from the WWE or any of their other sporting ventures, it's pure PR.

Anyway, in more amusing news:

Yep, that's your view and belief and that's absolutely fair enough. But I can categorically say I have no deep doubts. Would I prefer owners who were angels sent from heaven only ever involved in and doing good for everyone involved? Of course. But I've no qualms about us being owned by a Saudi public investment fund. I'm also an F1 fan and was cheering / hoping Lando Norris won the last race in his McLaren, was I concerned / thinking about how Saudi Arabia have ploughed £550m into the team? No.

Supporting Newcastle and being happy for the takeover doesn't make anyone a lesser person or in any way indicate they're okay with some of the acts carried out by the Saudi's. But we live in a society riddled with such things and love to make out like "they're the bad guys" while "we're the good guys", which is frankly a load of bollocks. We all fund/support abhorrent regimes and practices every single day, like I said on a previous post, if you've ever owned a pair of Nike trainers or something does that mean you're okay (not you personally, generally speaking) with sweat shops and horrendous working conditions in Asia? The world is completely imperfect in pretty much every single way.

The world is certainly riddled with nuance, there's no doubt about it.

That being said, I don't think the only option is to say "f*** it" and ride down to hell in a handcart. Actually accepting a bit of responsibility and not allowing ourselves to become totally complicit with sports-washing would be a good start.

Yep, and each individual has a totally free choice to do that should they wish. Tbh it’s been very clear from 2+ years ago what people’s views are, and in a month of Sundays people aren’t going to start changing them either way.

It's a shame that freedom of choice doesn't necessarily extend to citizens of certain other nations

As I said, nobody is changing their mind.

I’ve made my view clear so for me it’s solely about the football from this point, whether it’s on here, social media, talking to mates.

Hear, hear ! Encapsulates the irony in it all perfectly.

There will be plenty white noise from all and sundry for a long time, those who are simply jealous to those who wish to protest and are genuinely upset and troubled by the ownership. All perfectly understandable and legitimate. Each to their own.

I’m fully aware about issues around this take over and I can reconcile my acceptance of the new ownership regime what it offers me as a fan and I’m content.

Doesn’t for one minute make me culpable to human rights abuses in a foreign land , just as it doesn’t make me responsible for my dirty carbon footprint and make
me feel I should apologise to Greta for my lifestyle.

I’m over my moral dilemmas and now nursing a nippy head after a wee late one last night.

My tickets for Spurs are en route and I am marking this game , win, lose or draw as a fresh start after let’s just say a spell in the football wilderness

What will be will be, I’ll roll with it

The Seventh of October is an auspicious day,
As it is my birthday, hip, hip, hooray,
But I've found this takeover transaction,
To be something of an unwelcome distraction,
Why could they do it some other time,
And not on the day that is Vlad Putin's and mine,
Friends who decided to phone me up,
But only to ask if we will now win a cup,
Other events, though, not worthy of mention,
Football finances taking all their attention,
My view of that in history books penned,
And also of the Who's Pete Townshend,
That upon such changes and apparent salvation,
"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" is the apt quotation.
