After last night I don't think McClaren has control of his own bodily functions let alone the dressing room.

Interviewed last night saying it's time to draw a line in the sand. Next week he'll move the line "OK here", week after "well here".

I would say Dummett but even he's struggling with injuries at the minute.

Fair point, but the others who don't want to leave are playing badly (e.g. Colback, Haidara) but are at least showing some effort. Cisse for example is not only playing badly, but simply does not put in the level of effort fans pay to see. This is because IMO he doesn't want to be at the club.Thats why people like him will always get more stick. At the very least people want to see effort. It's unprofessional and its cheating fans out of their hard earned money.

If players really want to leave there is absolutely nothing that can be done. There is something McClaren can do. Dropping those who don't put 100% in every game would be a start.
I 100% agree that they should be dropped, however that's a separate issue. That will probably improve our performances on the pitch but it won't change the attitude of those players who do not want to be there. Not having 'full control' of the dressing room would be players potentially having more power than the manager (e.g. AVB at chelsea with the likes of John Terry and Frank Lampard). But there is no evidence to suggest that is the case here. If you read my first post I said 'if players really want to leave there is absolutely nothing that can be done'... By dropping them, how will that stop them from wanting to leave? Nothing can be done to stop them wanting to leave NUFC.

Ashley doesn't want a Manager - and this is the result of having 'coaches' who agree to operate under this moronic model. The least points tally since last April of any PL Club, including the three who went down and the three who just came up!

We desperately need someone in CM that can control the game or at least attempt to, poor Jack Colback is woeful. His hearts in the right place he just isn't up to the job. Team must look at us and rub their hands together, they only have to go through Colback & Anita to then get at Colo who is awful.
This. I think we've been really poor to start the season, and I think our terribly mediocre CM is the biggest flaw in our squad. I thought that in the summer, and I really think it now. You can have some decent wing options, and even a new striker, but without CMs who can influence a match, you'll always struggle to score, and struggle to defend.

I find the suggestion the overblown story lines from the OP are a major reason for our start a bit silly. Every team has a few of these ongoing sagas with players, but it isn't stopping them from winning matches.

His motivation and man management is right up there and allied to the way he wants the game played, high , pressing and pacey, well, I just thought that would have been a great fit for Newcastle.....heh hoh, pure conjecture

Anyway, the here and now , the pishing with the cock one has, well, in my opinion it will take until December to get this assortment of players going , I think Mc Claren ( the committee man ) will find himself walking the plank without a significant upturn in results over the next six games.

Oh and as per above post, agree, his post match interview was toe curling in its cringeworthyness
I don't think there's any chance that Ashley would have appointed Bilic (who would always have picked WHU over us anyway). Bilic is far too much of a live wire who speaks his mind, Ashley wouldn't ever go for that. Hughton, Pardew and McClaren were all given the job in part because they'd be grateful for it, and they'd do and say what the clubs hierarchy expect them to.

Hmm, yup. I just struggle to see how failure @ Derby = qualification for NUFC. Sometimes I despair at the frustration around it all. Sure the purse strings have been loosened, who knows , maybe the spark will come, but presently,no sign. McClaren is about as dynamic as a hole in the air just now......................Orwell I think , and the team completely lacking in order and worse, true spirit !!

Still , I have not given up the belief, despite the above.................its always good to travel in hope. <coat>

Yup. Head coaches who are in oblivion. Outsiders, who doesn't have much choice in Britain.

The same journo then said when asked if Newcastle fans would take Pardew back: 'lets get one thing straight here, the Newcastle fans didn't question Pardew's ability as a manager, they just thought he was a yes man to Ashley'.

WHAT?! <fist> Every single one of us questioned his ability as a manager, and by the records and runs we went on rightly so too.

Its people like this 'representing' us that makes us look like eggs to everyone else in the country. Ridiculous!

I agree to some extent. But if Carr is still choosing who we sign, then it wouldn't matter if Josie or Arsene were our manager.

I think we should look to bring some ex pros into the back room, people like Shearer and Rob Lee to give players bollockings, don't really have them coaching but find some place where they can have some influence.

I'n not convinced McClaren has full control of himself let alone the dressing room, his interview OMG non of it makes sense his answers hardly fit any of the question she asks him.

Here's the Chronicles coverage of it

You're right mate, it is entirely believable. We have too many players who have hung around here for years on bloated wages and have been part of some of the utterly pathetic displays we've had to endure the last 2 seasons - Tiote, Cisse, Coloccini, Sissoko to name a few.

Didn't watch the game because I'm in Spain so the connection is awful.

Although if we play, we should have decent delivery and balls into the box. He needs to drop Sissoko to get him a kick up the arse, it's irritating how we didn't get Austin; that might change in January however. There is promising quality in that squad.
