With the assumption we don't accidentally sign Mbappe or whatever, what do we all think will be the potential/probable starting team for Notts?

Pope
Trippier - Schar - Botman - Targett
Willock - Joelinton - Guimares
Almiron - Wilson - Saint-Maximan

Subs: Dubravka, Dummett, Lascelles, Kraft, Shelvey, Fraser, Wood, Slongstaff, Anderson.

Maybe we will get another signing or two in before then, and possibly I'm missing someone obvious, but that's not an awful team/squad going there. Definitely shouldn't be looking over our shoulders for the first time in a long time.
Think Anderson should go out on loan tbh so he can consistently play week in week out and re-evaluate the situation in Jan, I think a team like Burnley who are promotion chasers would do him the world of good (under Kompany's guidance). Replace him with Murphy on the bench to give us a pacey option when opposition defences get tired he's a good outlet to have (shame about his end product) for the last 20/10 mins or so when we have to sit back, defend a lead and counter attack. Ritchie, Fernandez, Lewis, etc can be reserves/squad players but could see Ritchie leaving to make way for someone like Cornet. Munoz/Bondswell/Stephson/M.Longstaff should go out on loan. Would be great to get Maddison/Cornet and new ST in weather that's Broja or Werner. Wood, S.Longstaff and Ritchie might not even make the bench come the end of transfer window so could see one or two of them leaving.
Agree with that regarding Anderson, had him on the bench purely for his pre season involvement. If he's likely to get more first team football elsewhere, he should. I don't think we will send Munoz on loan since he's technically still on loan here I think. I do wonder whats happening with that deal.

I do like the idea of Botman and Burn. That's a wall that isn't getting scaled. My reasons for Schar was thinking to ease Botman into Premier league life in his preferred position against (relatively) weaker opposition .

Botman and Burn for me

I think Howe will start with Burn instead of Botman, he has been playing Schar and Burn consistently together in pre-season, alongside Trippier, Targett and Pope. I've been under the assumption therefore that that is his favoured back five to start the season. Other than that I agree with the rest.

Q. Does Fraser deserve to start ahead of ASM v Forest? Based on pre season I’d say so.
not after that last match imo

Good run out today, players looked pretty sharp and ASM with an assist and a goal looked lively.
Botman looked assured and Dummett played very well and marshalled left back role.
Lascelles looked ok but still cannot control a ball, his needless run out of play with it demonstrated how uncomfortable he is with the ball at feet.
We were good enough for our two goal lead then lapsed.
Athletic scored ( another cross and header ) upped the tempo and we were fortunate not to concede a second
That said nice to sit and watch stress free

Next week, a whole new ball game, looking forward to the snap and tension ( I think )
🤣

Another win against decent opposition, best pre season I can recall us having for a long long time.

I never really take pre season too seriously result wise.

Some good performances though over the last few days.

Miggy seems to have taken the Grealish criticism and channelled it been our stand out, Anderson done well but can definitely see him going out on loan.

Seems like Pope might be the first choice
POPE DEFFO IS 1ST CHOICE NO MITE LOL HE HOWES BUY N DUBRA ALREADY MINOR INJURY SO YEH POP OUR NO 1 SEASON

Would be absolutely amazed if Pope didn’t start v Forest and be number 1.

I honestly can't see any benefit to this "2 games in 2 days" routine other than if there's a big payday involved. Both games are a mixture of starters and reserves a week before the season starts, so you can't build any momentum win or lose, and you risk a loss against a good side by playing such an understrength team. It's only preseason so the result doesn't matter that much, but with a week to go I'd still prefer a confident performance to what we've seen tonight. Tomorrow's has more of the starting attackers but will be a backup defense, all very strange for me.

Man Utd are doing it too, and for me they aren't a team we should be copying at the moment!

Not a lot to take away? We beat a team who have been playing CL football very recently. We’ve been scrapping relegation for god knows how long. Brilliant result.
