Re: Wenger to quit at the end of the season.

I'd add though, given the front office that's been developing there, I don't think any incoming manager was going to have complete control over transfers, and they might need someone who is to be more a coach. I wasn't saying that he's guaranteed to be a success, but I kinda appreciate they didn't ...

I was at that game, Santon played RW for a bit and scored if I recall. That was clearly his best position <roll>

That's why Ashley says that Rafa can have every penny that the club generates, as last year that was nothing (worse than nothing...). So technically he never lied <laugh>

Re: Wenger to quit at the end of the season.

It certainly wasn't a bad team! And he knew the club inside out from the youth team up, and managed the B team. It's completely different to Arteta taking the Arsenal job. It wasn't a bad team by any stretch, but they'd just finished 3rd, 18 points behind Real and 10 points behind Villareal. That s...

Re: Wenger to quit at the end of the season.

Pep at Barcelona and Zidane at Real are completely different given the ready made squads they had to work with. Arsenal is a big rebuilding job. It might work, but it's a risk for someone with zero experience. The idea that Pep had a ready made squad at Barca is a complete myth. It certainly wasn't...

Re: Wenger to quit at the end of the season.

I just think it's a massive sign that they're at best looking to consolidate rather than try to seriously challenge for the league again. Arteta may be a promising young coach, but surely after Wenger you want to make a signal of your intent. Appointing Arteta (and Cazorla as number 2) doesn't do t...

Re: Squad Next Season (if Ashley keeps his word)

I love Mbiwa... i think he's back in France at Lyon or something. I thought they had a promising backline a few years ago with Mbiwa, Santon, and Haidara. Its amazing Haidara is still with the club, come to think of it. I've still got a home shirt with his name on the back. Thought he was going to ...

Re: Wenger to quit at the end of the season.

<laugh> Not that ridiculous - he has been assistant coach at City for 2 years now. Pep's certainly not a bad coach to be auditioning under. Tough spot for him to start at though, trying to follow up Wenger with their awkward squad. I just think it's a massive sign that they're at best looking to co...
