Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Palace

Also a f***ing shambles of a week for my FPL Utter disaster. Was one of those freak game weeks with huge variations in scores. Quite a few people in my league went double Everton defence and got jammy af with clean sheets in both games, and the two behind be had Ben white who scored twice which nob...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Palace

Not seen it but online commentary says minimal contact. Tbh I’m not a fan of players throwing themselves to the ground at the faintest of contact (not saying that’s what this was, just in general).

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Palace

One thing that's clear from this season is the likes of Murphy, Krafth, Longstaff, Lascelles, Dubravka need to be giving us 110% just to keep up with the players around them. When they are off it, it's become so noticeable. Think it could take 3-4 more windows to really address the squad quality as...

How are we doing? Stats make it look one sided, and not in our favour.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Palace

wtf is actually wrong with trippier? Apparently he was close a few weeks back and even arrived with the squad in full tracksuit before one match, but he still can’t even make the bench.

Too many fans judge too many players by the look of their haircut.

Re: Football Titbits

Just shows how much we all buy into the way some is presented online, or even judge their entire character by how the behave for 90 mins on a football pitch. I’m pretty sure all of us and the vast majority of Newcastle fans thought that he had some talent, but was a bit of a t***. Proved us wrong on...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Man City and Arsenal to both go for Bruno in the summer according to the Telegraph. Losing him wouldn’t be great but bidding war wouldn’t be the worst scenario for him (unless he has a release clause?). He’d be a luge loss no doubt but I wonder if the club would welcome a bid for him if it allows t...

He won the Dutch cup on Sunday, tho he was sent off for two bookings but Feyenoord were already 1-0 up.

Hope he doesn’t get used to winning trophies when he comes back here <laugh>

Being linked with Chisea again. Only a year on his contract, and can play on either wing. Big concern would be that he's missed a lot of games due to injury

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Yeah even tho I’m not from the area it would be such a shame to ever move out of the city centre. Having been to a fair few away grounds over the last 10-15 years, stadiums on out of town retail parks or industrial estates are totally bland and soul destroying. It would be a loss to the city if the ...

Re: Weekend football - 20/21 April 2024

But you're saying they're rerefereeing, if there's no VAR there the outcome is the same, no penalty. So what's the solution, another layer of VAR (that won't improve things) or an acceptance that referees will make mistakes? Ok probably a bad example, but pick any example where the ref has allowed ...

Re: Weekend football - 20/21 April 2024

Which goal? The Wolves one I remember from that game was the penalty not given, in which case they definitely didn't rereferee it via the "high bar" for intervention. It's the other issue with VAR, there's definitely an element of refs being nervous to make a clanger and "leaving it" to VAR, which ...

Re: Weekend football - 20/21 April 2024

The issue is they are doing what they said they wouldn’t do at the outset of VAR, they’re re-refereeing games. You can understand how an official on field can make a “bad decision”, but for some this season it’s absolutely astonishing the decisions that supposed refereeing experts have arrived at af...

Re: Weekend football - 20/21 April 2024

The law needs changing, when they’re tight calls there’s no advantage. If some part of your body is “onside” then let the f***ing goals stand.
