Ah fair enough, I'm sell side equities myself. I usually say financial analyst > broker, because otherwise people imagine me on a trading floor with a hat screaming to sell frozen orange juice (Trading Places is a great film )Hjl wrote:Technically its a equity portfolio manager. I won't be doing much actual trading. Well none until I get my license, butost of it is done by the firm. It's primarily commercial accounts rather than personal. So nice slow growth rather than fad buying.Colback's Orange Tufts wrote:Ah fair enough, I'm sell side equities myself. The train was so empty this morning that I manspread over 3 seats and gave my bag its own seat as well.Bodacious Benny wrote:Last day in work before 11 days off

Found out that one of my best mates Dad has had a heart attack and died at work, was only in his 50s and a really decent bloke. You never know what's round the corner.

Jesus that's awful. We all live our lives presuming we'll live well past eighty, what other choice do we have? Things like this, life suddenly ending when you're just going about your daily routine, make a mockery of any concept of fairness. Hope your mate's okay.Bodacious Benny wrote:Found out that one of my best mates Dad has had a heart attack and died at work, was only in his 50s and a really decent bloke. Indeed. Yesterday my friend told me he’d had some really s*** news, he’s a bit dramatic so I assumed it would be that he’d broken up with his girlfriend or something but it turns out his dad has been uknowingly living with motor neurone disease for 3 years. Was pretty stunned and didn’t exactly know what to say since it’s one of those things you can only really take as it comes. It’s not the same a terminal diagnosis but at the same time it is really. His dad is only 53 and incredibly sporty, runs 10km most days, goes climbing, doesn’t smoke etc. Just done over by unlucky genesskalpel wrote:Jesus that's awful. They're all devastated as it was completely out of nowhere, he was working away from home too so they had to go all the way from the Midlands down to the south east to identify the body and all the other formalities.skalpel wrote:Jesus that's awful.
