Re: The Message of Awe Thread
What an awesome emotive song Big River is.
Amazingly atmospheric and a perfect musical eulogy to great Northern pride.
Bit maudlin after the cup final loss and the recent loss of my old man but this song has been getting replayed by me and is a comfort as it fills that void with memories.
My old man worked for a while in Newcastle in building and designing areas of the RVI and on occasion I used to travel with him back in the days. First taste of Newcastle, the feeling of the place never left me. Ever since then Glasgow and Newcastle have been twinned in my head
Great song that could only come from honest working class roots and observations of life in the North of Britain. It certainly resonates with pride in what makes you and when you come from.
Sorry for the indulgence but that was cathartic for me.

I'm sorry but I think it's dirge. Mawkish lyrics and a meandering tune. To each their own.
Didn't help that used to get lift to school with a friend and his mum was a jummiy nail fanatic. Heard it too much

That's the beauty of music if it evokes memories of your recent loss then all good

The Too good to go app. Saving good food from the bin when shops/supermarkets close, been getting the cooplands one from near me, £3 and you get £10 worth of food in the bag, absolute bargain and saving on food waste.

Nice, there's only really cooplands near me at the moment that I can get, also a Herons but not tried that yet and it's got some pretty poor reviews on the app for the quality of the bags.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:34 amStarted using it last week! Got another cooplands today, got lamb and mint bake, sausage and bean bake, sausage roll, cheese straws and pack of cupcakes
Bit of junk food really but for £3 it's going to easily feed 2 tonight.
The other ones I've had from there came with some nice salads and breads.
I really hope some better options pop up soon, 6 months ago I think there were 3-4 options,. Now there are at least 15-20.

Moneys a bit tight to the end of the month, just logged on to an old account where I had an isa previously and saw £113 interest for the last year had been put in to an account that I thought was now empty

Re: The Message of Awe Thread
Had an interview the other week and got a call today to say I got the job . During the chat they told me they have an eye to move me into a management role within the next couple of years and asked if that's a role I'd even be willing to accept in the near future if it came up sooner.
I've gone from pretty low confidence to sky high over the last week. Still hasn't sunk in fully yet.

M&S are going to remove the best before dates from milk and I'm going to cash in because I know what off milk smells like.
Looking for like skilled people with a moped who can travel locally to houses to sniff milk.

Crazy that we had Anderson and co bowling short stuff on 2 dead pitches without a quick bowler, and now we're bowling at the stumps without our main bowler in the side.

I generally hate Twitter, but some of the responses to Damian Lewis 'singing' the national anthem before the F1 yesterday are brilliant
