Happy Birthday

Today is ToonForum is 2 years old. I'm not as good at waxing lyrical about the site as Skalps was/is in his threads. Last season, from this point a year ago, saw the birth of the ToonForumIndex, along with the not quite so pretty graphics for it, followed in the summer by the transfer of ownership from Skalpel to myself.
Over that summer and going into the start of the season some changes were made; the fabled homepage was launched, the blog injected with life, regular features (a big thanks to Beatski, Yacob and everyone who has wrote a match preview) and NewsNow integration, the ads were overhauled and now look capable of supporting the site (another big thanks goes out to those who donated in the site's infancy), the TFI was reworked to give it its own section of the site, a few new features were added, such as media and tweet embedding, and we seem to have won the war on kitchen spam.
The site in general, following Smudger's heartless culling of GD, has continued to trend towards a *gasp* Football Discussion forum, so of course overall forum activity isn't as high as it was in its peak, and as always with forums, the user base continues to lose old faces and gain new ones more suited to the changing nature of the forums. My wording sounds a bit dramatic here, it's not meant to be . But GD will rise again , hopefully.
The transition to a more football focussed forum with an active blog has almost doubled the number of unique visitors to the site compared to the previous year, with visits overall up, but pages per visit and length of stay down. We've gone from a steady number of daily visitors with few peaks, to a similar daily number but with massive spikes on matchdays and on days with interesting blog posts.
So thanks everyone, and a big thank you to Skalps for getting this place started.
