Jack is nasty. But it's mass produced muck which is the same reputation that Jameson has. But Jameson is much much better.Bodacious Benny wrote:Like your thinking!Hjl wrote:

Never paid much attention to Irish either. Might have to change that, if Jameson is the jack daniels of Irish then the bar must be significantly higher.
Yeah don't drink much (any) regular JD as for the same price you can get something like buffalo trace which is much nicer. I don't mind Gentlemen Jack or JD Single Barrel tho.

Get some Noahs Mill if you can. It's very good. Might be hard to get outside of the local markets though

Thanks for the recommendation, not heard of that one. Can get it on Amazon UK it seems for about £70 so in the same price bracket as Stagg junior.Hjl wrote:Get some Noahs Mill if you can. It's very good. Might be hard to get outside of the local markets though
How much would you typically pay for Noah's Mill in the US?

Love a bit of Japanese whisky. Had Hibiki, Yamazaki in the past (both excellent) and got a bottle of Nikka from the barrel and a bottle of akashi on the go at the moment, both decent

I bet. I've just had the regular Yamazaki (Distiller's reserve I think it's called) and that was very nice (about £55 a bottle) so imagine the 18 y/o is rather tasty.Hjl wrote:I had a thimblefull of yamazaki 18. Good stuff, but priceyBodacious Benny wrote:

I went to world of whisky in Houston last year. Had some Balvenie 50. It was good, not amazing though and certainly not 37 grand good.Bodacious Benny wrote:I bet. Can't imagine any drink is worth 3 grand let alone 37 grand! I do like a bit of Balvenie, their carribean cask is a very good whisky.Hjl wrote:I went to world of whisky in Houston last year. Had some Balvenie 50. It was good, not amazing though and certainly not 37 grand good.Bodacious Benny wrote:

The rep brought a bottle and gave out drams. Perhaps it wasn't a good for for me though. I like Islay scotches, Ardbeg is probably my favouriteBodacious Benny wrote:Can't imagine any drink is worth 3 grand let alone 37 grand! About fifteen years ago at a business meeting in London, the client (Russian oil magnet) sprung for after dinner drinks and ordered a Napoleon Brandy at £750 a shot. Ordered doubles for all eight people at the meal the crazy bastard.Bodacious Benny wrote:Can't imagine any drink is worth 3 grand let alone 37 grand! Was completely wasted on me, might as well have been a bog standard supermarket brand for all I could tell.
