Stats from my "holiday" last week
I'm cycling 6 stages of the Tour de France in July 2018 to raise money for charity. If you'd like to sponsor me then please click the link in my user profile! Thank you!

Re: Holidays
Overseastoon its amazing there went back in January! Get a Roma pass card when you do, saves you a bit on travel and sightseeing etc like Vatican, St Stephens Basilica (tough climb to top of tower is awful but worth it for the view), Coliseum etc.
I live in London so flights are cheap for me wherever normally, looking at maybe booking Dubrovnik soon. Anybody been?

This time tomorrow I shall be in the mother land of cuisine and knocking back beers, kirs and wines and gorging on escargots!

Italy isn't the mother land. It's the grand mother.PTAO wrote:Didn't know Italians ate snails.overseasTOON wrote:This time tomorrow I shall be in the mother land of cuisine and knocking back beers, kirs and wines and gorging on escargots!

Re: Holidays
Just back from France and had an amazing time.
No phone or internet connection for 90% of the time. Just lots of conversation over the kitchen table with wines and food, badminton and football in the garden, long country walks and chilling out in front of a log fire.
Perfect.

Substitute the wine for beer and sounds like a winner.

Saw something in the news yesterday about local people in certain cities / areas protesting about tourism. It can bring a lot of money to areas but also pushes up prices for locals who can often no longer afford to live in the places they grew up so are coming into direct conflict with tourism. Dubrovnik was one of the places mentioned.

One of our Uber drivers in Dubrovnik said prices had skyrocketed with the influx of tourists recently.Bodacious Benny wrote:Saw something in the news yesterday about local people in certain cities / areas protesting about tourism. Yeah I bet. Tourism can be good to a point but it's a double edged sword too.Ramone wrote:One of our Uber drivers in Dubrovnik said prices had skyrocketed with the influx of tourists recently.Bodacious Benny wrote:Saw something in the news yesterday about local people in certain cities / areas protesting about tourism.
