Re: Holidays
Cruise has been cancelled due to my Dads health so looking at alternate holiday plans now.
Going to include a week in Florida so I can see my Dad but MiniOT cant stand that heat and humidity so likely just be myself going over.
Thinking of bringing next years plan forward and hitting La Rochelle, Ile de Re and Loire Valley for 10 days.

Took your (or some of your advice) on Budapest! Very nice city, fantastic architecture and a deep history. Got one of those bus tours first and picked out places we’d want to go. That house of terror is an eye opener. Went to heroes square, Parliament, Basillica, river cruise dah de dah.biggeordiedave wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 3:12 pmYou sound just like me, only twice my ageSomebodys pinched my sombrero wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 2:41 pm
Appreciate the info.
I’m 60, like plenty of bars and restaurants, but not overly loud night life. Lot of walking about during the day I reckon. I’m starting to prefer city breaks rather than beach holidays these days.
Looks like we’re going to book the President in Pest.
Cheers.
Well worth a visit and appreciate the info

If airline cancels the flight you'll get your money back, same if government advises no travel I believe, not sure about hotels though. Worried about my holiday to Riga in June.Colback's Orange Tufts wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 7:39 pmWe booked Thailand for June... outbreak there now and we have a small baby. She went before a while back and struggled with the heat to the extent of hives. The trips after to Singapore and Thailand really have put her off.PTAO? wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 8:25 pmShe doesn't like Disney?overseasTOON wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:40 pmCruise has been cancelled due to my Dads health so looking at alternate holiday plans now.

Maybe you should visit your dad in the winter.

Have you got insurance? Not sure what their policy would be?Colback's Orange Tufts wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 7:39 pmWe booked Thailand for June... outbreak there now and we have a small baby. Non refundable fights and hotel

Re: Holidays
Meant to be off to Barcelona on Friday for the marathon, so it's been fun watching all this escalate - a bit weird going from morbid curiosity about a mystery disease in China to constantly seeking updates on how it's going to affect me.
Marathon cancelled this afternoon. So now I have a non-refundable holiday in Barcelona, unless FCO/WHO say no.

You've got time to get new insurance, provided you aren't going to these areas:
Then once the FCO advises against travel to where you are going, insurance should kick in for flight and hotel. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all but essential travel to areas within the provinces on the Thailand-Malaysia border, including:
- Pattani
- Yala
- Narathiwat
- Southern Songkhla province. This does not include areas north of and including the A43 road between Hat Yai and Sakom, and areas north-west of and including the train line which runs between Hat Yai and Pedang Besar.

MiniOT has a skiing trip in Switzerland with the school at the start of April and we're wondering now if it will go ahead.
We'll be out of pocket unless the FCO advises against travel to Switzerland!!!

Most insurers have stopped issuing new policies
I can get back the flight from the airline, but not the hotel

Re: Holidays
Sat in Barcelona now, waiting for FCO to update their advice to say Catalonia is a no go so we can get our refunds and returns sorted. Everything is shut down, but no crowds, which is nice...
Re: Holidays
UK to US travel now banned. Glad I didn’t book the holiday to Florida I was debating for the last few weeks or so!

Re: Holidays
I went on a cruise around the Caribbean . The ship was ok, sat out on the deck and smoked cigars and drank a lot. Then we had a few days on the islands and that was glorious.
