I went to Rome in 2004 or 2005, enjoyed it. Loads of beggars though which is the case with pretty much every major city. Can't remember too much about what I did other than the normal tourist stuff there. Didn't bother going inside the Colosseum as queues were massive, plus i'd been inside an amphitheater in Tunisia so figured it wouldn't be too different.

I actually found the Colosseum to be an anticlimax. Didn't have to queue for it with my tickets, but I think they could have done more to bring it to life, or give more of the history etc.

Yeah me too although I hear now you can wander round the central underground bit which might me cool
