Re: Holidays
Check out the Newton food market. Less busy than the main Downtown market.
Re: Holidays
Off to Dublin on Thursday for a long weekend. Anyone got any suggestions?
We're going to go to the Guiness storehouse and the Jameson distillery.
Heard the Temple bar is worth checking out but nit to stay long as its quite touristy and overpriced.

I don't want to piss on your chips, but I've been there a couple of times and I'm not overly impressed. Nice view at the top of the Guinness brewery, temple bar is good but hideously overpriced. I'd rather have a night out in Newcastle tbh.TJR wrote:Off to Dublin on Thursday for a long weekend. Anyone got any suggestions?

That's just my view though, I'm sure loads of people like Dublin. Enjoy.

Re: Holidays
My tip is go to a comedy gig/club outside of temple bar. Comedy with locals (not tourists) in Ireland is something special

Never ever order a pint at Heathrow Hilton, £10.35!!! No way can they justify that for a pint of Leffe. I'd expected about £7 maybe, almost choked when he said £10.35.

What do you expect, it's Leffe! In London it's usually the price of a pint for a half of Leffe... but it is twice as strong as average lager.Bodacious Benny wrote:Never ever order a pint at Heathrow Hilton, £10.35!!! I don't mind the taste of Leffe, personally I think most normal layers are rank.
Give me a decent IPA or double IPA any day. Wheat beers decent too.
Anyway, arrived in Chicago last night and it seems like a cool place. Went to a bar for dinner and drinks, quality burger and over 100 beers on tap

Hearing lots of people saying Chicago is worth seeing. Think that'll have to go on the ever expanding holiday list.Bodacious Benny wrote:I don't mind the taste of Leffe, personally I think most normal layers are rank.

This is my first full day and it seems like a cool place. Decent food, bars and seems like plenty to see and do. Much more laid back than New York (as you'd expect), similar feel to somewhere like Toronto.Southern fairy wrote:Hearing lots of people saying Chicago is worth seeing. Last day in Chicago tomorrow (picked up at 4pm to head back to the airport) and bloody love the place. Great food, great bars, plenty to do, laid back, will definitely come back.
