It's a bit of both for me. He's a CB out of position and it's telling, but he's being put in a position to failColly wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 5:50 pmI think this is really harsh, second game on the bounce he's getting no cover. For the goal Silva wasn't his man, he was getting overlapped and still managed to nearly get a block in.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 5:49 pmIf Burn isn't getting torched for pace, he's back peddling scared away from the ball to avoid them beating him 1:1. He's basically become an Iron Mike fullback.

Bruno picked some lovely passes through their defence in that bit of possession we had, this isn't over yet.
Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Citeh
But it might be if our backline keeps getting yellows

I’m not watching live, but if you’re writing this at 2-0 down to the English, European and world champions I’ll have some of what you’re smoking

I'm loathed to jump on a reactionary bandwagon but if Howe doesn't experiment for the rest of the season and persists with the usual.. Questions need asking

I don't care who we are against, how good they are, as a team we have to at least make it something other than a training match for the opposition. We make things far too easy for teams this year, and a lot of the time it hasn't even been against the top opponents.

Dan Burn pressing and closing down the keeper. Galaxy brain tactics here
Get him off, see what Hall can do

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Citeh
That gets at it for me actually. He's being directed to play so narrow, which consistently leaves him having to pick between the ball and the overlapping run, and he's then left in no man's land. If you're going to play 5 at the back the LWB and LCB have to do better, because they won't get the same cover.Colback's Orange Tufts wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 5:57 pmIt's a bit of both for me. I still feel like we missed a trick not trying to attract some more proven talent in the summer before CL, and instead now we'll be trying to negotiate off the back of an underwhelming season.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 6:05 pmDifferent weekend, same mistakes, same favourites, same s****.

We tried a small number of quality additions + youth. But the additions have barely played and the depth is crapRemember Colo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 6:19 pmI still feel like we missed a trick not trying to attract some more proven talent in the summer before CL, and instead now we'll be trying to negotiate off the back of an underwhelming season.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 6:05 pmDifferent weekend, same mistakes, same favourites, same s****.
