I think Darmian has shown decent potentiall. Probably not worth the wages he'll want, but could be a decent player.Oval85 wrote:Wouldn't have either. They are not worth half the salary...Bodacious Benny wrote:Out of our league, but Man U reportedly open to offers for Darmian and Blind this summer.

He'll go back to Italy you'd think. Pretty sure Juve have been linked a few times.

Yeah, could see Martial and Darmian both ending up at Juve.

Don't disagree they're not worth what they're paid now, and I see that comment any time Man U or a similar club is selling. Except most players leaving there or those top couple clubs are going to have to take a pay cut, because nobody pays wages like theirs. Most players expecting to keep the same pay are instead going to go unsigned.Oval85 wrote:Wouldn't have either. Wary of those two Man Utd players as they've been brought in for decent fees and faded out the first team squad as they've not quite got to grips with the league.

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2018)
We won't sign them for a variety of reasons I would have thought, so it's moot. However there are plenty of players clearly not cut out for the top clubs that would still be good for a team in our position, ability wise. Not necessarily these two, although I personally believe they'd be good additions albeit unlikely. First two examples that come to mind are Zaha and Siggurdsson, who both went to big clubs and didn't cut it, but are fantastic in the big fish small pond dynamic. Throw them in our goldfish bowl, and jobs a goodun.
Wanyama, Welbeck, Delph, Fellaini are all more current examples that I think could apply, and be good additions to our team. However unlikely some of those may be.

Both <£15m, Darmian has played 50+ times for them, Blind about 80 so can't be too bad.
As I said initially, we won't be in for them but they're not bad players.

Blind is a weird one. Not really sure where his best position is. Not really suited to CB, not exactly a LB either. Maybe a DM.
He's actually played 140 times for Man United, he's definitely talented.

I'd have Blind as DM. Always liked him there. Positioning is good, some clever tactical fouls and passing is better than most DMsALF wrote:Blind is a weird one. Not really sure where his best position is. Not really suited to CB, not exactly a LB either. Maybe a DM.

This. Technically adept and intelligent footballer who can pick a pass, comfortable on the ball and versatile. Darmian would be decent too at the right price. These are two experienced tactical and technically gifted players which would suit the ''Rafa-mould'' coming from a Italian/Dutch footballing background and both would improve those respective positions mentioned. Darmian at RB over Yedelin and Blind over Diame at DM. Martial / Rashford on a loan deal would be excellent business too but very unlikely as they'll probably both want European football plus wages would be too high. Maybe Luke Shaw could be good to give us a more attacking outlet down that left-hand side? Anyone take Fellani also? Great hair, versatile, aerial threat, competitive and would do well for a team like us (similar to Everton competing for top-half)Colback's Orange Tufts wrote:I'd have Blind as DM. shall we just go for the rest of their bench whilst we're at it, clean sweepSanchino wrote:This. Darmian at right back would be a good option over Yedlin, how old is Blind? Diame is getting on a bit despite a blinder of a 2nd half of the season, but should maybe look at decent young options for Rafa to nurture?
That said, striker should be the main priority right now. I'd say if we keep dubravka order of importance is roughly: striker-keeping kenedy-finding merino's talent from behind the sofa- right back

Blind is only late 20s, not that we'll get him or the rest of the Man U bench
