Another solid signing I think. He managed to get eight goals and four assists in a very poor Mainz side last year. Will need to adapt to English football, so he probably won't be banging in more than ten goals in the Premier League, but he could link up well with another striker.

Can we not just keep Mitro and sack off this Rondon deal?

Also, kinda weird that someone would make the presumption based on his scoring in Germany that Muto should play secondary striker behind Rondon, when Rondon's scoring rate is worse.

Sure likes of Heskey/Owen worked brilliantly. Heskey wasn't the most prolific was he.

Rondon is 6'2 Muto is 5'10 four inches makes a big difference (so my ex says anyway)

I'm not personally saying the lead striker needs to score more, I just got the impression from the previous post that the person thought that Muto didn't score enough and was thereby more suited to a secondary striker role behind Rondon.

Assuming you mean mine?
From everything i've read he's more of a second striker contributing in assists as much as goals (never managed more than 10 goals overseas in a season).

If he is our main (or only) striker signing this summer i'll be disappointed.
I didn’t mention Rondon

Muto and Rondon would be great, but not sure playing them together is the answer. If anyone is keeping score, all of my friends who support other teams rate Rondon and think Mitro is a joke.

I understand that will annoy some people, but sometimes it helps to have an outside view.

Sorry, I guess I was really combining the point you made (which I totally agree with, I don't want him to our main striker addition either), and then the one replying to you suggesting he play behind Rondon.

Competition for Perez at best. Don't think we should be dismissing our top goalscorer from last season this early, Perez is improving under Rafa & I expect him to be better this season.
And in conclusion, how far had you got through reading this before you realised it was my signature?

I agree, and I've always been a fan of Perez anyway. He's obviously limited, but he's a good player and clearly has his moments. Seemed to excel with Kenedy in the side. I don't see why he and Muto would be in competition though. Surely Perez could play in the hole with Muto as the 9? Rondon/Gayle/Munez on the bench.

I’m a big critic of Perez, I find him incredibly frustrating throughout a season, find he often looks uninterested and is still too easily removed from the ball. But maybe, if Muto has been brought in as competition for his role, it will be the motivation he needs to perform more.

Presumably none of these friends supported Fulham or the teams he scored against in the latter half of last season?

Always considered Perez to a natural striker and not a number 10.

I see him more as a 10 personally, and I think he's mostly played there as well. Pretty sure he was a 10 at Tenerife, was played up front for us under Pardew primarilly due to injjuries I think. Was definitely not meant to be in the first team as early as he was. If you think Perez is a striker, and based on what you quoted, does that mean you see Muto as a 10 then? As in, not as competition to Perez. Genuinely curious, as I've seen a few people say that, but I thought muto was being brought in as a striker.

Clubs that have barely seen him play? Oh so knowledgeable "big club" fans? I don't see Mitro as a worldbeater, but I find the joke/rate him comparison a bit ludicrous.
