The same people that would have faux outrage about being owned by the Saudi's would be parading the Saudi flag down Northumberland Street and wearing tea towels on their head
No, they wouldn't. The only people who would put tea towels on their heads are the naive simpletons who would be happy with that scenario in the first place because football is all they have.

I'm pretty sure any outrage expressed would be from those with at least a basic moral compass and would not be "faux".
Oh come on. People will pretend to be outraged about it to jump on the social media bandwagon when in reality most supporters won't care. That's just today's world. Of course a few may be that outraged they don't feel they can support the football club anymore or genuinely express disgrace at the takeover as they actually have an understanding what there is to be annoyed at - those with a basic moral compass, as you say - but I'm fairly certain the vast majority who will display outrage at being taken over by a Saudi consortium also wouldn't give a s*** if they later delivered success to the club.

My point was aimed at those simpletons, not those that would have a genuine beef with it. Football fans by and large are fickle and this would be no different.

I honestly think the people we're both referring to won't even be arsed in the first place. I know of plenty of people who are completely ignorant and would welcome a takeover by "some rich Arabs". Ironically, the type of people who support EDL and want to suck Stephen Yaxley-Lennon's twisted little cock.

I'd still watch the team and go to the odd game as little as I do now but I'd be very uncomfortable with them being our owners. Any sort of achievement under their ownership would certainly have the gloss taken off it. Some will boycott altogether which is completely understandable.

I think it'd be the end for me. I've been a season ticket holder for 15 years and have been going since the late 80s, but if the Saudi royals can pass the fit and proper persons test the game is absolutely broken.

I have a weird practical reason for never taking a year off too, I sit front row of the second tier of the East Stand basically on the halfway line, so I have a great view and tonnes of legroom. I'd never get that back if I missed a few seasons, so I'd be gone for good...

Some rich group of Arabs wanting to buy the club sounds fictional to me. 😔😔

I believe NOTHING regarding Mike Ashley and asking price <fist>
He is a proven liar with media backing him, and they can all gently **** off until someone has actually said "Yeah, we want to buy Newcastle United".

If he hasn't already lowered his asking price then he may well soon be forced to after today.

We're probably in the position now (again) where prospective buyers won't want to risk it given our league position.

Could've used that for the Hazard transfer.

Wonder if this could put off potential new owners:

A bit of tax evasion is custom and practice for big business isn't it?

Certainly is and footballers are no exception.

In the early noughties I worked for company that ran a "tax efficiency" scheme operating around the Film Sale and Leaseback tax loophole. Loads of footballers signed up. You could envisage dressing room conversations as the players signed up in order, in one instance moving from one club to another after an international break as five players from one nation signed up after the break following on from another who had signed up before the break. Players from the five clubs they played for then also started signing up. Before long there were more than 30 from the PL alone.

He's been speaking to sky sports apparently.

Retail tycoon Mike Ashley has told Sky News he is in talks to sell Newcastle United in a deal he hopes will go through before the January transfer window.

Mr Ashley told Sky's Ian King Live the talks were not yet at an "exclusive" stage but that they were "at a more progressed stage than they have ever been".
Supporting the Toon since 1972.

I mean any public comment from the club/Ashley is better than nothing... but, as always, a large pinch of salt taken here.

The wanting to sell it b efore Jan makes me think he really doesn't want to spend anything on transfers <laugh>

There's a video from the interview floating around, but I can't work out how to link it from facebook.
