Evening all,
After the excitement of the UEFA Champions and Europa Leagues focus returns to The Premier League as the (once) mighty Toon look for their first win of the season at the sixth attempt and try to prove the increasing doubters wrong - it is a far cry from this week way back in 1997 when Tino scored his magnificent hat-trick in that memorable win over Barcelona.

First up in the televised lunchtime kick-off gives us the chance to see how Aleksandar Mitrovic is settling in at Craven Cottage, although 4 goals already this season tells it's own story, as Fulham host Watford who lost their 100% winning start to the season last weekend. No fewer than 6 games kick-off at the traditional 3 o' clock with bottom of the table Burnley hosting AFC Bournemouth currently sitting pretty in 5th position 9 points ahead of their opponents and, of course our beloved Newcastle United. Cardiff City who are now one of 4 teams yet to taste victory this season another of which is, of course our beloved Newcastle United, entertain Manchester City and one would think that a victory for the visitors is on the cards despite their midweek setback in Europe. Our beloved Newcastle United, without a win so far, travel to Selhurst Park and a first victory for The Toon could lift them as high as 15th in the table whilst defeat is unthinkable. Leicester City host Huddersfield Town who, along with our beloved Newcastle United, have yet to win this season and you would think The Foxes despite last weekends defeat will have too much for The Terriers. Liverpool will be looking to continue their winning start to the season in all competitions against Southampton who threw a 2 goal lead away in their last game whilst Manchester United will be looking to extend their winning against Wolverhampton Wanderers who themselves have lost only once since their return the Premier League and are showing some impressive form. The teatime game sees Brighton & Hove Albion who in both their last 2 games have managed draws having been 2 goals down and Chris Hughton will be hoping to get one over the club he made almost 400 appearance for as a player.
Sunday sees West Ham United who won for the first time last weekend host table-toppers Chelsea who, like Liverpool, have a 100% record in all competitions this season and, indeed, their last defeat in a competitive game was to out beloved Newcastle United. The final game of the season sees Arsenal who, after last weekends victory over our beloved Newcastle United, are on a run of 4 wins in all competitions host Everton who tasted defeat for the first time last weekend.
As always thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend which hopefully will include a victory for our beloved Newcastle United!

Re: WEEKEND FOOTBALL - 21/23 SEPTEMBER 2018
When we can't hit a barn door it's easy to see why people are still frustrated at that transfer, especially as Rafa would have known that the chances of him seeing any of the Mitrovic money were virtually zero. Selling Mitrovic has served no purpose whatsoever and it was abundantly obvious that he'd score goals given a run in any team and he was by a considerable distance our best striker.

It serves him no purpose sitting on the bench and not playing either.

Do you genuinely believe that?! He got 9 PL goals in his first season here when he was young and new to the PL, in a team that got relegated!

They guy wasn't playing under Rafa (which was abundantly clear to everyone!) so there no point in him sitting on the bench when he could go somewhere else and play.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 1:19 pmThe Deluded Pablo Diego Jose Francisco wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 1:18 pm

Yeah but you said he wouldn't score IF he played regularly in our team which isn't true, he's scored regularly for every team he's played for.The Deluded Pablo Diego Jose Francisco wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 1:21 pmThey guy wasn't playing under Rafa (which was abundantly clear to everyone!) so there no point in him sitting on the bench when he could go somewhere else and play.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 1:19 pm

This was a stuoid decision by Rafa. Mitro has been and will always be a goal scorer. Honestly I think it was a good move for Mitro, we are too s*** for him.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 1:25 pmYeah but you said he wouldn't score IF he played regularly in our team which isn't true, he's scored regularly for every team he's played for.The Deluded Pablo Diego Jose Francisco wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 1:21 pm

You said "it was abundantly obvious that he'd score goals given a run in any team"
and i said "except ours" because he wouldn't have been given a run of games in the first place.
