Match day thread - NUFC v Bournemouth
Bournemouth (h)
This coming Saturday afternoon sees the Cherries visit Tyneside for a 3pm kick-off at Gallowgate.
Tickets remain on public sale, with the visitors requesting an allocation of 1,722 places.
This is only the fifth top-flight fixture between the two sides, with Newcastle losing both the home meetings. However they have avoided defeat on the South Coast, winning one and drawing the other.
Having posted shutouts against both Southampton and Watford, a similar outcome on Saturday would complete a run of three PL clean sheets by the Magpies for the first time since November 2014.
NUFC: Yoshinori Muto, Jonjo Shelvey and Jamaal Lascelles are all set to miss out through injury.
Florian Lejeune and Jamie Sterry remain out, while Ciaran Clark's availability is tbc.
BFC: Josh King is doubtful.
The Cherries come to Tyneside in search of a third consecutive Premier League victory, following a 4-0 win at Watford and a 3-0 success at Fulham.
Beginning the season by winning 2-1 at West Ham, Eddie Howe's side then lost 0-2 at Chelsea and 0-4 away to Burnley.
Veteran striker Jermain Defoe is yet to start a PL game this season, with a trio of substitute outings combined amounting to just 14 minutes.
His 24 career appearances against us for West Ham, Spurs, Portsmouth, the mackems and Bournemouth since 2001 have brought him eight goals.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Bournemouth
I'm predicting a loss here for the simple reason that it's been a pretty s**** week at work and fate will dictate that the best way to cap it all off is have my Dad take the piss out of me because his team won.

Sorensen has been training with the senior squad which is good, would still be pretty surprised if he appeared on the bench tho.

I'd be shocked too. He'd then be perfect for a time wasting appearance with 5 minutes left trying to hold a 1 goal deficit.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 5:53 pmSorensen has been training with the senior squad which is good, would still be pretty surprised if he appeared on the bench tho.

Still too young, won't fit the Rafa system, not Spanish enough and also doesn't like custard.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Bournemouth
Just watched Rafa’s press conference on NUFC TV. Sounds unlikely that Lascelles, Shelvey or Muto will be available so expect Schar, Ki and Perez to come in. He was a bit coy when asked about Sorensen and said that it was up to him to prove he’s worth a place in the squad.

Going to maintain the optimism of last week and go for another 2-1 win.
There is no sin except stupidity.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Bournemouth
... at half-time. After which Rafa will send the team out in the second-half playing the Peter Cook defence (all ten outfield players standing on the goal-line, with the smaller players sat on bigger players shoulders, and hoping to snatch a fifth from a lucky rebound), and we will go on to lose 4-5.
Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Bournemouth
Honestly if we're 4-0 at half time I might just leave.

Schar, Ki and Perez come in as expected. Murphy has returned from the wilderness and is on the bench.

Post, crossbar then in. Good persistence.

1-1, think we'll stifle them, snatch a goal, sit back and they'll inevitably equalise then we'll be hanging on for dear life come the end
