I have to actually consider it happening if George weighs in. <sigh>

I expect if this eventually happens, then 1 minute after its confirmed we have new owners the coronavirus then initiates its kill switch instantly wiping out the whole worlds population. Least we die happy.
Re: Toon Takeover Thread
If it does happen it would be typical Newcastle for it to happen when we're on lockdown so we can't even go out and celebrate. Still though I'd take it.

According to Russia Today,
What the Crown Prince will pay,
Has gone up, unlike his crude,
By three orders of magnitude.

Re: Toon Takeover Thread
I've always believed the rumours had some legitimacy - I just also believe Mike will mess it up with his stubborness and mistrust for everybody but himself (only his drunk self though) and his dog (I assume he has some kind of aloof dog that hates him and pees on his rugs to try and get his attention).
Re: Toon Takeover Thread
Apparently this is looking more and more likely now. Not quite at 'cans' level but things are progressing.
Re: Toon Takeover Thread
It certainly seems to be the closest Ashley has ever come to selling. Wherever it'll actually go through or not is another thing but it has never seemed more likely.

It would be typical Ashley to do this now - completely under the radar !

Re: Toon Takeover Thread
He definitely does everything on his own terms. As much as everyone has theorised he leaks rumours for his own benefit (I've always doubted that, because he hasn't cared about positive PR in a long time, and it always just results in backlash for him anyway when it doesn't come off), I've always thought him to be a detrimentally stubborn bloke who wouldn't sell until he got exactly what he wanted, and wanted it done quietly so it didn't appear like he caved to public pressures.

I can't quite decide if this is a good or a bad time for someone to buy/sell a football club...worldwide recession imminent, the financial arse could fall out of the game if games are behind closed doors for the forseeable future and loss of TV revenue potentially...
I'm the scumbag outlaw. You're the pillar of justice. Neither of us like looking at ourselves in the mirror. Do we have a deal?

Good time to buy for a sovereign fund, low valuations, long term horizon and have liquidityBodacious Benny wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 3:21 pmI can't quite decide if this is a good or a bad time for someone to buy/sell a football club...worldwide recession imminent, the financial arse could fall out of the game if games are behind closed doors for the forseeable future and loss of TV revenue potentially...
For selling a bad time, unless your other business interests are tanking and you need cash. Mike ahsleys Debenhams is going into administration

Re: Toon Takeover Thread
And if Ashley knows he can get his asking price, or close to it, he probably should get it now when he can, because it's safe to say the number of potential buyers will decrease by the month as different businesses are hit by the recession.Colback's Orange Tufts wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 5:18 pmGood time to buy for a sovereign fund, low valuations, long term horizon and have liquidityBodacious Benny wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 3:21 pmI can't quite decide if this is a good or a bad time for someone to buy/sell a football club...worldwide recession imminent, the financial arse could fall out of the game if games are behind closed doors for the forseeable future and loss of TV revenue potentially...

Re: Toon Takeover Thread
So in classic ITK fashion, a friend of a friend of a friend is part of the bid, reckons it's all signed off, the fit and proper person test is on going and it will be announced in around a month.
Personally I'll be sharpening my pitch fork for the next few weeks, but we can dream

I saw the tweet from the french guy saying pretty much the same thing, also said something about trying to recruit DS, wondered if that would be referring to Diego Simeone. Either way I'm still at the I'll believe it when I see it stage.
