Sir Bobby

I’m an Ipswich fan. We’re struggling badly at the moment in the 3rd div right now. After losing to Oxford today I went in the club shop feeling rather fed up about it all. Portman Rd is a 6 hour round trip for me.
We’ve won 4 out of our last 22. Div 3 FFS!

And then I read this which is printed on the wall in the shop
It’s a quote from Sir Bobby

“What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the NOISE, the PASSION, the feeling of BELONGING, the PRIDE in your city.
It’s a small boy clambering up the stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his fathers hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him, and without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”

He would have been 87 on the 18th. I know how much you guys loved him too. He still has such a positive influence on me.
I just hope we make it back from the mess we’re in right now. Reading his words just reminded me why we do it.
Cheers x
