Europa League: Info, groups, tables & banter thread

Post by TJR » Wed Mar 12, 2014 11:41 pm

Hello and welcome to the Europa League. Please use this thread to discuss all things Europa League rather than using the gameweek threads for discussion. Get the banter and rivalries going lads! You will also find the OP of this thread being updated constantly with the most recent version of the group tables.

How this competition fits into the bigger picture:

The format:
All 23 predictors will enter the group stage of this competition. There will be 5 groups of 4 and 1 group of 3. Everyone will play each other once in each group. The top 2 from each group will progress to the last 16. The 4 best preforming predictors (based on GF) who didn't finish in the top 2 of a group will also progress to the last 16. From there onwards the competition follows a knockout format. This competitions will use French league fixtures and International fixtures.

All predictors enter all competitions this season. Next season we'll return to the format of last season where everyone enters the Champions League group stage and then based on your performance in the group you either progress in the Champions League or drop to the Europa League. This season though non of the competitions are interlinked like that.

14 predictors in the quarter final? Wouldn't that usually be 8 <scratch>
