Re: The Hip-Hop/Rap Thread
Nice, I honestly wasn't aware there was any sort of (good) Hip-hop following on here. Love it.

I've never managed to sustain an interest in Nas for more than a few months. I'll give Illmatic a run now though, need some noise while I work.
Re: The Hip-Hop/Rap Thread
Yeah I can't get into anything else he's done either, it feels like he took a massive nosedive after Illmatic. But I can't fault it at all really, love every track.
Re: The Hip-Hop/Rap Thread
It Was Written has some very good tracks and Street's Disciple has some decent ones as well, but I don't like the general direction he went in.skalpel wrote:Yeah I can't get into anything else he's done either, it feels like he took a massive nosedive after Illmatic. Re: The Hip-Hop/Rap Thread
Even with Illmatic I have trouble, his voice doesn't hold my attention at all, I have to force myself to pay attention and only then can I appreciate it, with a few exceptions. And then from there he just turns cocky with the occasional classic track.
Re: The Hip-Hop/Rap Thread
I generally don't give that much of a s*** about lyrics in music (with a few exceptions and providing they aren't so obviously terrible that you can't ignore them) so I'm not really bothered about needing to pay attention to his. His voice flows well as a percussive tool on top of some pretty great beats which is probably why I like Illmatic.
