It's better than season 6.beardface wrote:Season 8? Pick up?Bodacious Benny wrote:
Series 7&8 definitely pick up again
I've only got 4 episodes left
Season 8 is bloody awful.

Season 8 wasn't bad at all really. It was better than Season 3 and 6.

Just watched episode 8 of season 8 - very good. One of my favourites for a while.

I've just finished watching it. I liked the emotion as it progressed towards the end, Dexter hoping and planning to lead a normal life with his son and Hannah, but then Saxon rips it all away and he crashes back down again thinking he destroys the lives of everyone he touches.
And Deb dying Didn't see that one coming after she'd survived the surgery.
There were a few lulls in the middle-ish series, but overall I'd rate it a solid 8/10. It evolved as it went on, less focus on the kill, more on the impact on Dexter and Deb.
Is there rumour of a future series? That's presumably why they didn't kill off Dexter or let him get caught.

I'm really interested in how much the perception and enjoyment of a TV show is determined by whether you have to wait a week between episodes or can binge and was whole series in days.

I think you become more emotionally involved if you have to wait a week between episodes. For example, watching all 8 series of Dexter would take 7 years with the gaps between shows and series. You're going to feel pretty tied up in it.Tirer le Ryan Oison Uneski wrote:I'm really interested in how much the perception and enjoyment of a TV show is determined by whether you have to wait a week between episodes or can binge and was whole series in days.
I watched Dexter in about 3 months. I really enjoyed it and got hooked, but could relentlessly feed my addiction over a short period of time so I probably enjoyed it differently to those who spent 7 years watching.

I agree Benny. When you go on a binge you do tend to switch off after a while
Re: Dexter
A bad episode, or series of bad episodes, is excruciating if you're waiting a week or two between.

True, you may have to wait weeks for a good one. Whereas watching a boxset you can just plough right on through until another good one.Cal wrote:A bad episode, or series of bad episodes, is excruciating if you're waiting a week or two between.
