The Hobbit.
Can't see a thread on it so I thought I'd make one How excited are we all? Personally I can't wait, loved LOTRs, remember watching the Fellowship when I was younger and nearly crying when Boromir died. If it's half as good as LOTRs it will be epic in my eyes, Gollum looks amazing/hilarious/mad as ever, Serkis is a genius and the rest of the cast is brilliant.

Re: The Hobbit.
I'm wondering if to read the book again, my knowledge is a bit shady, but that might be a good thing going into a film version of it

The whole section from Bilbo getting lost and then finding the ring sticks in my head, but not much else doesbeardface wrote:The only thing I remember from The Hobbit is a dragon.B4E wrote:I'm wondering if to read the book again, my knowledge is a bit shady, but that might be a good thing going into a film version of it

I was going to read it again before the film, but that doesn't look like happening now as I'm probably seeing it almost straight away.

Re: The Hobbit.
I was going to read it just before the film but I did it about a month ago out of excitement
Yeh from the trailers the film looks like it'll be great. I think Martin Freeman's going to make a great hobbit. I'm interested to see what else they're managing to squeeze into the films, from the trailers it looks like they've managed to get a fair few things from other books in there so that should be kind of cool

Re: The Hobbit.
Read somewhere that the last film is going to finish at the start of The Fellowship pretty much and that there is going to be a lot more on The White Council and Sauron the Necromancer than in the books. I've still never read The Hobbit. I'm gonna go in blind like I did with the LotR films and then read the book after. I've read loads around the Tolkein universe though...love it all

Think they're milking it for everything it's worth. How they're making 3 films for the Hobbit I'm not sure, the book is only 300 odd pages.
And in conclusion, how far had you got through reading this before you realised it was my signature?

2D = Better
IMAX can be 2D (it predated the return of 3D to cinemas). 2D IMAX is great, just a really good quality massive screen.
I agree 3D is stupid mind, not at all immersive and you lose colour and brightness.
Question is 24 or 48 fps?

The Hobbit's got a much higher than normal fps I heard, is it only 48 or is it more?Cisse's Overheating Torso wrote:IMAX ≆ 3DSpeedo wrote:Imax

Re: The Hobbit.
48 fps is the increased one, which is similar to tv/gaming (50-60). But film has been 24 fps since the silent movie days. So the Hobbit can be seen as usual in 24 or as Jackson recommends in 48fps in limited places.Speedo wrote:

They say 48 fps has less blur and smoother action. But we are so used to films being 24 some people say it looks cheap/like a tv film.
Also if it's 48fps it highlights problems with movement/cgi/greenscreening more. Apparently in the hobbit there is quite a bit of cgi (where in LOTR used prosthetic) that is a bit suspect and in 48fpd it is even worse
