Mayweather vs Cotto = Years far too late.
Routine easy win for Mayweather. Typical though, Mayweather complains when Pac beats fighters that he has beaten, yet Mayweather happily fights fighters that Pac has beaten.

I have to disagree in this instance, Pacquaio forced Cotto to come down to a catchweight that left him severely drained. Mayweather has moved up to fight Cotto at his natural weight. After Manny, Cotto at Junior Middle is the most dangerous and illustrious fight out there at present.

Carl Frampton fighting on March 17th, he's one to keep an eye on
Re: Boxing Thread
There was no forcing about it, Cotto wanted the fight no matter what and was happy to agree to the terms. Cotto weighed about 160-162 on the night of the fight.Samuel L Ameobi wrote:Jaiston wrote:Mayweather vs Cotto = Years far too late.

Cotto isn't dangerous any more, especially to Mayweather. I would of preferred either; Paul Williams or Sergio Martinez.

Cotto is VERY dangerous. Against the last two opponents he's looked arguably his best since the Sugar Shane fight, Paul Williams is seen as having a low point and Martinez isn't enough of a PPV draw sales wise at this point - hence the fight with Macklin and not moving up in weight. Cotto first declined the fight actually til Bob Arum twisted his arm with a an extra 5 percent of gate and TV revenue receipts, and for a boxer to weigh that much on fight night is nothing out of the ordinary. However it would have been Cotto piling on pounds to get to a forced natural weight and feeling sluggish. There's nobody out there better to challenge Floyd than moving up and fighting an in form Miguel Cotto at his strongest weight. If Arum wanted the fight with Cotto and Manny to go ahead at a catchweight that severely favoured Pacquiao then nothing could stop him. He gets what he wants and what he thinks will generate the most revenue. Look at the recent Marquez fight as an example; Manny got absolutely embarrassed but as he makes so much money and Marquez is no longer a major shareholder in Golden Boy - Pacquaio won.
Re: Boxing Thread
A washed up Mayorga, and a weight drained and damaged Margarito. Pac isn't the only one that "forces" catch weights on his opponent.
Cotto is not dangerous at all to Mayweather these days, which is why I wanted this fight years ago.
Mayweather paid Cotto $750,000 and retired shortly after, so they wouldn't fight.

Khan v Peterson rematch for the 19th May.
Looking forward to that one and hopefully Khan puts Peterson on his ass this time.

One question.
As I refuse (well, the wife refuses to let me) have Sky; is boxing ever streamed?

Re: Boxing Thread
Almost always. Just look at the usual streaming websites, normally have links to the boxing.overseasTOON wrote:One question.

Hhhmm I wonder what would attract you to such a sport, I can only presume the high level of technique in the Spikes, digs, setting and blocking!!overseasTOON wrote:
