would it be better to do the side missions the instant they become available, or should i do the main missions first? (do any missions become unavailable after a certain point?

The ending is f***ing horrific, drag the game on for as long as possible.

I've got a hell of a lot of free time now. Never played Mass Effect. Considering it. Worth it?

Depends on your tastes in gaming, I'd imagine the gunplay in the original wouldn't hold up very well to a newcomer with no attachment to it, but the story should still be as strong as ever if you're more interested in it as a playable 'space opera', as it so often gets called.

I'm not overly bothered about how good the gunplay is, I've never necessarily been really into CoD or Battlefield or anything, but at only 6 or so years old it'll still be more than fine, surely? But if you'd recommend it for its storyline then I think I'd be all for it. I'm just bored of the other games I've got, and it's only a fiver so I wouldn't really be losing out. Started Bioshock today but I can't see myself really getting into it.

I'm about 1/3 way through the original Bioshock. The atmosphere and incidental storytelling are great. The combat doesn't really grab me though, standard fps with one or two 'powers'. Melee combat against fast moving foes is very iffy in fps, it just annoys me.
