E3 2014

Where to Watch?
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (schedule in PT, 8 hours behind BST))
http://www.gametrailers.com/e3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (schedule in ET, 5 hours behind BST))
http://www.e3insider.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.giantbomb.com/chat/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.gamespot.com/e3/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://ign.com/e3/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Press Conferences
Times are in BST, and pretty much identical to last year.

Mon 09 Jun - 17:30 - Microsoft
- Pre-show starts at 17:00, has "sneak previews", "celebrity fans" and a "green carpet"... Post-show at 19:15, with execs talking about whatever is announced in the conference itself, as well as answering questions from twitter and a live audience.
- MS just announced 45 non-gaming apps (http://news.xbox.com/2014/06/ent-new-ex ... ng-to-xbox" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), so maybe this will be about games...
- They've been making a big deal about Sunset Overdrive lately, and there are three unannounced Microsoft game slots on the Twitch schedule, one of which is probably Forza Horizon 2.
- There should also be stuff on a second season of Killer Instinct, now in the hands of Dave Lang's Iron Galaxy, Fable Legends, new Gears of War, Project Spark, Quantum Break, Halo, Phantom Dust?
- MGS trailer has leaked ahead of time, likely a part of MS conference rather than Sony.

(Crystal Dynamics are announcing a new game on Spike/Gametrailers in the 19:00 to 20:00 slot. Also CoD:AW, Halo, The Witcher 3, and the first showing of Sunset Overdrive multiplayer in there too)

Mon 09 Jun - 20:00 - EA
- There's a pre-show listed on Twitch starting at 19:00, and a post-show at 21:00.
- Expect Dragon Age: Inquisition, Battlefield: Hardline, Star Wars: Battlefront, Mirror's Edge (all the previous are confirmed), the usual annual franchises, etc.
- Perhaps something on the new Mass Effect and/or what's going on with the Star Wars license?
- There's at least one unannounced title.
- There's also a new project from Criterion among these "nearly half-dozen new games", which presumably is said unannounced title?

Mon 09 Jun - 23:00 - Ubisoft
- Another hour long conference, followed by a half hour post-show.
- The Division, The Crew, Far Cry 4, AC: Unity, and at least one unannounced title should headline this. I wouldn't be surprised if there is another game or two of a similar ilk to Child of Light and Valiant Hearts: The Great War.
- Partnership with NVIDIA to improve their games' PC performance in the wake of Watch Dogs.

Tue 10 Jun - 02:00 - Sony
- Expect H1Z1, Driveclub, The Order 1886 (despite the delay), Planetside 2, Diablo 3, Hohokum, Helldivers, Uncharted, probably Destiny and MKX as well (Destiny seems to be closely tied to Sony, and Sony paid for Injustice to come to PS4, Ed Boon tweeted something about Sony E3 hype today).
- PlayStation Now had some stuff leak onto the Store recently, so expect that to get properly announced / more info revealed.
- Perhaps a response to the Kinect-less Xbox One / price cut? A PS4/Vita bundle just leaked.
- There's a Valve segment?
- Two unannounced SCEA games mentioned on the Twitch schedule, one PS3/PS4, the other PS4/Vita.
- Project Beast?
- The Last Guardian?

Tue 10 Jun - 17:00 - Nintendo
- Four unannounced Nintendo games mentioned on the Twitch schedule.
- Their conference is again online only.
- Play the game.
- Super Smash Bros. Invitational, new Pokémon, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, etc.

Square Enix are being weird.

Other games on the Twitch schedule that might show up somewhere in the above:
  • Hotline Miami 2 (Dennaton / Devolver)
  • BattleCry (BattleCry / Bethesda)
  • The Evil Within (Tango / Bethesda)
  • The Witcher 3 (CD Projekt RED / Various)
  • Dying Light (Techland / Warner Bros)
  • Homefront: The Revolution (Crytek / Deep Silver)
  • Unannounced Deep Silver game (or 2, if the above is a Crytek reveal); Saints Row? Metro Redux?
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Sledgehammer / Activision)
  • Lords of the Fallen (Deck 13, CI Games / Bandai Namco)
  • Evolve Special Tournament (2K) (Can't find anything else on this)
  • Unannounced Square Enix game, they've teased something FF related
  • Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade (Behaviour / Square Enix)
  • Batman: Arkham Knight (Rocksteady / Warner Bros)
  • Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (Monolith / Warner Bros)
  • Alien Isolation (The Creative Assembly / SEGA)
  • Civilization: Beyond Earth (Firaxis / 2K)
  • Zombies Monsters Robots (Yingpei aka Epic China / En Masse)
  • Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (Gearbox / 2K)
  • Unannounced Tecmo Koei game
  • Disney Infinity 2.0 (Avalanche / Disney Interactive)
  • SEGA Sonic BOOM! (SEGA)
Epic have been openly talking about Fortnite in their UE4 stuff, so I wouldn't be surprised to see that there.

It's been long enough since GTA V on 360/PS3, time for One/PS4/PC? Rockstar do have something schedule for the new gen this financial year...

Alienware will have a presence there, and will be showing off the "Alpha Gaming Console" (their steam machine). <erk>

Dark Souls 2 is getting 3x pieces of DLC, first of which is being shown on Spike/Gametrailers at some point.

New Borderlands looks like it could be pretty good. They've put in an oxygen and atmosphere mechanic which looks pretty interesting.

Definitely looking forward to seeing how Shadow of Mordor is doing as well <awe>

Apparently EA have said that it will be there, and Disney just killed off a Star Wars "Attack Squadrons" game to increase focus on other Star Wars games.

So many triple A games have been pushed, think many of the 'big' announcements will have trailers light on gameplay.

But to be honest, Naughty Dog aside not too fussed. I really like seeing all the stuff surrounding smaller games. Not just indies but smaller games like Child of Light or Rain the big studios are putting out. And there might be less silly gadget focus (Kinect/VR/touchscreen) this year.

Just watched that Square Enix link. WTF! Found it funny but doesn't seem like good advertising. They aren't doing a show but showing at Sony and MS conferences I guess. Also:

From October last year: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013- ... evelopment" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Q: I'll wrap up with an inevitable question which you're probably not going to answer. The Last Guardian - where is it? It's in this building [Sony Studios Japan] somewhere, presumably?

Shuhei Yoshida: Yeah, in this building!

Q: What console is it coming out on?

Shuhei Yoshida: Ahh... That, I cannot talk about.

Q: It doesn't seem to make any sense for it to a PS3 title so late in the lifespan. I know they have PS4 kits in their office, because I heard them talking about them...

Shuhei Yoshida: So, we're waiting for the right time to re-introduce The Last Guardian in an appropriate way. I can't... Well, the game is in development, and it's well staffed, and Ueda-san is here, working - even though he's not a Sony employee, he's dedicated to the product. But we're not ready to update yet.

Q: The hiatus that was talked about at one time, that's over now? It's back in full production?

Shuhei Yoshida: Hiatus, I never... It was Jack Tretton! He used that term, and I said no, hiatus is misleading. It was a hiatus in terms of releasing new information. The game has never stopped - the team has always been here. They're going through the re-engineering of the game, so the team size is smaller, because it's more engineering focused right now.
Yeah it could be another Half-Life 3, but the coy way Yoshida talk about platforms and "re-introducing" (same term he used clearing up the hiatus thing back at E3 2013), it sounds like it has shifted platform. The smaller team implies that it's back in early/pre-production (at that point), or perhaps going to Vita?

4 player co-op might make AC interesting again?

And Microsoft are trying to get DLC timed exclusivity on everything. Call of Duty, AC, Evolve, and Dragon Age so far.

Good trailer for Sunset Overdrive again. Until the guy started talking.

Dead Rising did a Blood Dragon, and it looks awesome. Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition DX Plus Alpha, out now. Hopefully will come with the leaked PC version.

Halo Master Chief Collection. 1, 2, 3, 4 on Xbox One in one package.

Why should anyone care about a Halo TV show? The story was not the drawpoint of those games <laugh>

Indie stuff looked cool.

Bugger of new Tomb Raider, cgi trailers tell us nothing (other than this is what the game won't look like), just do a reveal of the name, as much info

Casey Hudson and the Edmonton team are working on a new IP, new Mass Effect is early but pretty with vague words about ambition and handled in Montreal.

I like the EA angle of, we'll show you a soon to be released game or we'll talk about the design of far away ones. Less chance of **** trailers that way
