I think this was a fault picked up in the beta alright should be fixed now.

I agree going Very Defensive when winning a game 2-0 just seems wrong compared to contain.
Ah perhaps I haven’t downloaded the latest update.

Still though, it’s a serious upgrade from FM18, and with those two systems plus dynamics from last year it feels so much more sophisticated and realistic than FM17 and earlier.

I'm tempted to get the iOS version as it's simpler and only costs around £9, I don't really have the time to get into the full game nowadays.

Great for train/plane/bus journeys given the travel involved in my new job it's going to come in very handy

This is really tempting me to get it for Nintendo Switch

Not got into an FM game since 2012. Think they've gone downhill to be honest.

Which ones have you got? I think there’s more of an up front time investment these days to get up to speed on it, but I find it pretty intuitive after about half a season’s play time. And the new systems are way better than the old ones. But I suppose it goes back to the old arcade v simulation debate - if you want the former, stick to FIFA, if you want the latter you want FM. (I know so few people who like them both...)

Had 14 and 18 since having 12. 14 just plain sucked and 18 was alright but not particularly good. On 12 I played about 17 seasons with Rotherham taking them from League 2 to 2 time Champions League winners <awe>

Are you sure it's the real Football Manager?

This. Absolutely adored the games up until 2011 and got them every year. I kept getting them until about 2016 but couldn’t ever get into a save. It always just felt like such hard work <urgh>

12 is my favourite <awe> I did a similar thing but with Crewe Alex. I think 14 and 15 were both a bit rubbish, I've not even bothered with 18 and won't get 19. 17 is the best I've played since 12, and been getting a lot of mileage out of it. Plus with the steam workshop you can just download a mod to update all the player databases and it's essentially like the next game, just without forking out 40-50 quid or whatever.

In a critical league game, my captain hit the crossbar 3 times and gave a way a penalty as we lost 1-0 <grr> <grr>

<diva>

I unfortunately haven't had much time to play this year so haven't started a Newcastle save properly.

Might do when the transfer window update comes out though.

In my game I was playing as a Czech manager, won the league twice in the Czech Republic, and Newcastle were bought by a Czech billionaire who hired me basically as soon as I applied <awe> (though we were relegated just before I took over... luckily I could sell £200m worth of players who were good but old and wanted to leave, and replaced them all with U25s and Czech players on low salaries. Currently top by 8 points in mid-January 8))

Maxim Tsigalko was always a great signing for me on the games about 15 years ago...

I'm still using fm18, but just used a steam mod to do all the updates up to this January. Started a new game as Newcastle and Miggy is sensational <awe>. Fernandez and Muto been really good as well.

Every time I play FM I end up cheating by adding managers at all of the rich teams then buy all of my own players for a fortune.

I used to do that as a kid. I'd go mad buying loads of players then be fuming when I'd still lose a few games <laugh>
