I'm actually pretty surprised they didn't rename Feeling Good to something like "Antejentacular Dihedral Nuclei" and pretend that they wrote it first. Also Nina Simone's (if we're calling that the original) is definitely better.

There's no real way to debate his voice since that's subjective (you must listen to Muse all the time if his voice makes you laugh) but to say he's a mediocre guitarist is a bit harsh. Clearly he can play the guitar to a good standard, some of his songs have pretty difficult melodies and that, and his improvisation is pretty skilled. I'm a fan so i'm obviously biased, but I'm trying to be objective in saying that he is more than a mediocre guitarist.
I've never seen Muse live so I can't really comment on his improvisation but I've never heard anything he's written and been blown away by what I'm hearing.

Just curious, do you play the guitar?

You can play well but not write well though. He's got some technical skill I think, but his writing can and increasingly is OTT, pretentious and tedious. He also writes silly nonsensical lyrics. And I was a big fan of their 2-4 albums, saw them in Wembley for 50 quid

Nah I don't. I wouldn't claim I'm an expert or anything, I just compare to other rock guitarists around that I know.

They claim that they're stripping away the s*** that's harmed their last couple of albums so hopefully we'll get some of the old Muse again.

I liked muse's first few albums, lost interest in their latest latest stuff. Seen them live and they were good; they openly admit that they write their music for live performance rather than studio recorded.

The two other members have also openly admitted they think Bellamy is a bit loopy with his aliens/conspiracy theory interests. They just play along (quite literally)

Didn't realise it wasn't <disgrace>
surely a hallmark of a cover that is better than the original.

So, Nina Simone's cover of feeling good <roll>
(especially after finding the original, also it seems like everyone who's ever been on x factor has covered it <puke>)

SpoilerShow

Two good covers in my opinion, first one definitely is better than the original for me.

Monkey Man. Toots & Metals original has such a worse bass line than literally every other version (with the Specials bass line <awe>)

Bolton Wanderers' promotional video for season tickets next season reminded of this thread. It has a certain cover of Feeling Good that you all love <whistle>

Check out The Maccabees cover of Walking in the Air. Probably bias, as I love this band, but they give it a slightly darker, eerie twist, as well as some big sounds. Really good.

Joe Kinnear: "I think they've got some magnificent midfield players; Tiote, Ben Afri, Yohan Kebab, Sissoko are very solid."

Not quite a cover, but a definite favourite of mine...

Don't know if it is better than the original, but Sturgill Simpson's cover of In Bloom from his new album is great.
