NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2018)
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2018)
Forest have just broken their transfer record spending £13.2m. We now can't compete with Championship Clubs spending power
It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.

Stoke make a 10m bid for Gayle. Throw in another 5m on that then I'd accept
I'll Hazard a guess

To paraphrase Lambert when someone was linked with a bid for Butland, which leg do they want?

Yep, we turned down £15m last season which I think in this market is a fair price. He's only 27 so a good few years left and he'll get 20 goals for Stoke.lblancsson wrote: ↑Sat Jun 16, 2018 6:36 pmStoke make a 10m bid for Gayle. Throw in another 5m on that then I'd accept

lol Gotze, might as well fantasize about getting Kane, or for that matter maybe Ronaldo wants to see if he can single handedly make Newcastle win the league...

In regards to Dwight Gayle to Stoke, I would do it for £15 million pounds, paid upfront. With that money I would put it towards Rondon from the Baggies who has a release clause of £16.5 million. That’s an upgrade in my opinion.
Selling Mitrovic will happen, again, need to be sold for at least £18 million but if scores at World Cup can see that value rising to around £20-22 million. Wouldn’t take more than two payments at least £10m upfront. Hearing interest in Germany coming. His replacement, Andrej Kramaric from Hoffenheim for £22 million.
Kenedy is a must and I believe Rafa is working hard to get this done. Chelsea need the funds so they are a willing seller. They want £26 million for him, we won’t go above £18 million at present. Paying this upfront may be useful.
Mikel Merino wants out unfortunately, £12 million pounds to Real Betis looks a goer. They see him as a future Spain international like I do. We have lined up Thiago Maia as a replacement for around £9 million. Has super talent, like Kenedy will flourish under Rafa. Exciting to have Kenedy and Maia bringing that Brazilian flare to Tyneside.
Now there is an attacking midfielder in France and Germany we are monitoring heavily, won’t come cheap. I’d suggest rest of our budget will go towards this and the Young Boys defender who I believe has won out over Skrtel as Mbemba’s replacement.
All in all, nice upgrades in my opinion.

Yeah in the limited games he has at LB (I think) he seemed to do a good job. Some Gringo's pinched my sombrero wrote: ↑Sun Jun 17, 2018 12:28 pmHe looked good when he was here. If a player wants to leave you can't really stop them in the long term, I'm sure it wasnt what the club wanted tbf

Can't say I remember the exact circumstances as to why he left tbh i.e. if the club didn't want him, if he didn't want to stay, if we wanted guarantees of game time that we could'nt give him etc.Van Beatski wrote: ↑Sun Jun 17, 2018 5:40 pmIf a player wants to leave you can't really stop them in the long term, I'm sure it wasnt what the club wanted tbf

I remember that video someone made of Mbabu doing normal things that most competent footballers can do

Social media links with Sturaro from Juventus. As Merino will probably be on his way out we'll presumably be in the market for another midfielder.
I'd still like to keep Merino, think he's got the attributes to become a very good player.

I can only assume that Rafa makes his mind up on players predominantly through what they do in training. As I can't see any reason why he's so keen to shift on Merino, Mitro, Mbemba etc., based on what they do on the pitch, yet gives chances to the likes of Joselu and Gayle despite them not being anywhere near good enough at this level.Blještav Benny wrote: ↑Sun Jun 17, 2018 9:44 pmSocial media links with Sturaro from Juventus. Or maybe he just hates the letter M.

That may well be true, but at the risk of a TF pile on... Mitro is about on the pitch.Edison Heisen wrote: ↑Mon Jun 18, 2018 8:34 amI can only assume that Rafa makes his mind up on players predominantly through what they do in training. As per the game yesterday, he isn't that clinical when in on goal for striker. Pair that with discipline issues on the field and that he's knackered at 75 mins.. that's what Rafa sees. One can disagree (I maybe tend to) but these are on field matters.

Marginal pile on, but clinical strikers aren't easy to come by these days and cost a lot more than we would be willing to spend. I don't see Mitro as anything like a superstar, but I really can't see us signing better for the money unless there's some excellent scouting going on.

Definitely this. We're linked with that Jorgensen again, but his goalscoring record in Holland isn't great and I don't see someone like him as being any improvement on what Mitro may be capable of. If we sell Mitro for £20m then those funds buy very little nowadays. That Marcus Maddison is leaving Norwich for £20m+ and he's had one decent season in the Championship.Colly wrote: ↑Mon Jun 18, 2018 10:37 amMarginal pile on, but clinical strikers aren't easy to come by these days and cost a lot more than we would be willing to spend.
