I missed the pre-game stuff. What did Ferdinand say exactly?

Offensively we're crap.

Think the manager's negativity and his lack of fluidity absolutely kills us as an attacking team. Our only hope of scoring really comes from crosses. It's Allardyce-esque. Play for territory and whip a ball in. It's crap.

I've never seen someone employ such an obvious, overt tactic of Machiavellian lying on a sports panel. It's cringeworthy and it's fooling absolutely nobody. I know he's pretty f***ing simple but this is low even for him. He should not be allowed to be a pundit for Newcastle games with this clear conflict of interests

Ferdinand has a habit of running his mouth off and making himself look like a massive eejit, nothing new. The fact that the host had a stunned silence from the prick is amazing though

The fact we says we're a yo-yo club for how long is literally a point against Ashley <laugh>

We had been relegated 4 times in our entire history before Ashley took over (less times than Man Utd btw). Since Ashley took over it's happened twice in 10 years, with a third one looming

We've been very bad at offensive transitions. It's the Yedlin was terrible; Now is obligation to beat the Cardiff

Heading back from the game. Seemed to switch off for their goal, but really encouraging spell for the last 15-20 mins of the first half and decent header from Clark for the equaliser. Rondon and Perez also had relatively decent chances, again had we invested in better quality offensively we’d easily be sat in mid table.

Lejeune looked decent, can really pick a pass and read the game, you’d never know he was still on the comeback trail. Thought Ritchie put some decent crosses into the box, Longstaff did a good job in midfield and was tidy with his passing and closed them down well. Hayden and Atsu tried hard but you can tell the quality isn’t there.

Thought Perez was quite poor and didn’t offer much at all. Yedlin was by far our weak link. He had absolutely no clue as to who was around him or where they were at any given time and continually lost his man (no coincidence that their winner came from his side).

If we bought a couple of quality players I’d be confident that we’d stay up, without it I’m not so sure. We definitely raised our game in the first half after they scored and we need to see that v Cardiff next weekend.

I don't think we'll be relegated

We're better then at least 3 other teams, Huddersfield, Fulham and Cardiff will go down I think
I'll Hazard a guess

Humphrey makes a fair point in that you do up your house before trying to sell it as you'll get a better fee.

So bored of this s***, didn't watch the game but from the sounds of it that final corner sums up the negativity that has been pervasive all season. Just want it to be over already so we can get on with something a bit more interesting, whether that's in the Championship, or the Prem with a manager who at least has some faith in what players he has rather than denigrating them at every opportunity.

Rio is thick as pigs, isn't he?

This whole spending money on players isn't worth it, they might get injured.

If you buy a player, they become an asset of the club. Give us a £30m striker and a £30m central midfielder and he can ask for £360m for the club.

The three teams you mentioned will fight for wins and we simply try not to lose matches.

If we can beat Cardiff at home I will remain fairly sure we can stay up.

Looking at the games of all the bottom clubs up to Brighton - many have harder run ins than us after Jan.

From Feb to end of season we only play top 6 sides 3 times - all others except Burnley have 4 games. Burnley have 5 - so still looking tough for them.

But we could desperately do with a bit of attacking flair. We will need more than 34 points to stop up - so at least another 16 ormr 17 to get.

.....First 3 of those Vs Cardiff please...

The difference in bias between the BT and the MOTD commentary is amazing. MOTD saying not a foul for Richie’s yellow and that Perez going down was foul. Also highlighting Benitez’ annoyance after the goal because the corner not taken as he requested. Lee Ryder suggesting Richie put it in the box after pressure from the away fans in that corner. Worrying when a lot of our goals have come from corners. What is Rafa thinking?
