Match day thread - NUFC v BHA
Re: Match day thread - NUFC v BHA
I must admit it makes me a bit happy seeing Carroll run on to the pitch.

Yep that was pretty bloody awful, one point more than we deserved and two less than we needed.
Only positive we defended pretty well considering how much possession we kept gifting them and despite only seeing a quarter of the ball kept them down to a few chances. Need to improve drastically or we are in the s***.

Bruce is tactically inept. He doesn’t have a clue how to use the players he has. Saint-Maximin looked great when coming on, I fear he will be torn apart by negative tactics.

Joelinton seems to offer nothing. Even when we win possession on the wings he’s jogging up towards the box. We’ll get torn apart by Leicester if we play like that.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v BHA
That was one of the worst performances I have ever seen in my time supporting this club. Regardless of level. Seemingly no game plan bar 'chuck the local lad on' at the end and no drive or commitment from most of the players. It was a horrible watch. If we continue to play like that then we are in real trouble. What will happen is we will put in a plucky performance in our next 3 games and still get drilled, and then play another s**** team around us and barely muster a shot on target.
And I've had enough of Shelvey. I'm not usually one for snap judgements on players, but he has had enough chances and enough time to prove himself. He's lazy and preening and he can get in the f***ing bin.

Fortunately was unable to watch the game and could only follow via the BBC Sport app.
For some unknown reason, although alcohol may have played a part, I decided to watch the action on MOTD and we looked abysmal even through beer goggles!
Was thinking of going to the Wolves game but might knock that idea on the head.

I’m relieved that I resisted the temptation to get a ticket to Leicester away next week.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v BHA
It was truly dire. The players looked confused tbh, add to that they looked a yard of the pace as Brighton knocked it about. ASM offers a spark of hope, caveat that though with a propensity towards looking like he's injury prone. The fact that hopes were raised with Carrol coming on for the route one nuclear option, ffs my reality check arrived. Lowest crowd I've experienced ar SJP. Align that with a s*** show from Shelvey, horrendously slow bar service pre , half time and post match in platinum, and no pepper steak pies ffs. Seems we cannae even get momentum with the bar service now. All in all, a complete s*** show.

I'll comment late and say the first half was abysmal and we were lucky to have kept it 0-0. Other than the clearance in the second half they at least didn't create any chances then, but there wasn't a lick of urgency among the players until the subs came on. Did more in the last 15 minutes than the first 75. And dammit Bruce, the midfield was overrun and why Hayden is being played so far forward I have no idea - it's a stupid use of him and Shelvey.

Agreed. Brighton should’ve had the game won by HT. We lack any form of creativity whatsoever and are so easy to defend against. As you said, the only slither of hope is that ASM looked more of a threat than the entire rest of the team combined when he came on. Carroll also troubled their defenders more than Joelinton did, but obvs he’ll be injured soon.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v BHA
I think the alternating weeks of top teams and relegation threatened teams has likely stunted any development of play style. It's hard enough under a new manager with a lot of new players to form some sense of consistency, but add in planning for Liverpool, and then someone like Brighton, and it seems they haven't found how to flip the switch to attacking more. I'm not defending Bruce by saying that, and I think that was often a problem under Rafa too when they wouldn't turn up against the lesser sides either, but either they need to find a way one way to play that might work against anyone, or get themselves sorted and turn up wanting the ball against the bottom feeders.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 4:38 pmAgreed.
