Seems a bit early, only 4 points off promotion spots.... Not that I know much.

Just more material for the next doc <ok>

Hope this is not a decision made by potential new owners. I want to see them suffer for a few years yet.
Supporting the Toon since 1972.

Lol.

Always thought their current owner was there to steady the ship and they'd struggle with him at the helm after a while as he and the group behind him don't have the finances to dominate in the way the Mackems would like.

Farewell to Jack Ross,
Now former Sunderland boss,
The news, on the club's website,
Ironically presented in black and white,

What did he achieve on Wearside?
He stopped their relegation slide,
Losses were few went he was incumbent,
But drawing games rather too frequent,

On him the Mackem faithful turned,
And poor old Jack was duly spurned,
Sent back home to bonny Scotland,
No doubt with a payoff in his hand.

Where's the takeover news come from? The chairman was on Radio Newcastle around teatime saying that it was ongoing.

So much for stability. I don't know what knight is meant to stroll through their door and magically turn their fortunes around. He at least seemed to bring a degree of competitiveness and normality to what had previously been a sinking ship.

Fair. But I'll always lean towards the likelihood that a prospective takeover fails than it'll be successful. The fan theory that the prospective owners were going to pull out of the deal if the current owner didn't fire Ross is ridiculous though. If that's a deal breaker for the new owner(s), they should probably want to steer clear of them.

Sad to see Jack Dross lose his job... they might get someone in who knows what they are doing now.

Steve McClaren is interested into the vacant Sunderland job, according to a report.

Sunderland are looking to recruit a successor to Jack Ross, who was sacked by the League One this week.

McClaren had a disastrous nine-month spell at St James’s Park in 2015-16.

And the 58-year-old has reportedly “been in touch” with Sunderland over the vacancy

Scrolling through RTG to see how the story's progressing there, and what's the deal with their hatred of Sol Campbell? He's frequently listed as one of the people who if became their manager they'd stop going. I didn't expect him to be one of the first to mind considering those actually rumoured for the role.

it'll be purely the fact he played for us

Edit: Googled it and there is some history there between him and the mackems
One of my earliest encounters with [racism] was at Sunderland. It was a long time ago, it was at Roker Park. I was playing for Tottenham in the FA Cup. It's in the book.

Basically, every time I touched the ball I was subjected to monkey chants - every single time. I'd never experienced that level of racism. It wasn't really recorded and nobody said much about it.
Their fans deny it anyway here's one of the articles on it https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... m-football

Cheers for the explanation! Given how briefly he played for us, and how poor he was that year, I figured it had to be something else.
