Re: ASM are there issues
I think Howe is not risking him. Since he's come. We've always been desperate, rushed him back and he's been limited. Could ruin his career that way

Re: ASM are there issues
More signings like Trippier would help him a lot, he not only needs quality around him but also role models to nurture and encourage him to be the best version of himself. People like Ronaldo got to the level he is at by recognising he's got the talent and putting in the work to refine every part of his game with the aim of being the very best. In terms of the football ASM needs to put as much work into his final product as he does his dribbling and he will go very far.

ASM is back in Newcastle after seeing a specialist in Monaco. He hasn't trained with the first team yet but might do so today (The Athletic).
Sounds like he could be on the bench v Brighton but would be surprised if he starts.

Was it Bruce who played him 2-3 times in the space of a few days as soon as he came back from a long-term injury?

Re: ASM out injured
I see some” written media “ carrying a story this morning that ASM is getting punted for £50m in the summer as part of the EH clear out ? More made up stuff before the Spurs game ( it’s the Mail after all ) or is there trouble with the moody maverick Frenchman.

I mean, our own fans create rumours like that seemingly every month - presuming he's on the out with the club and needs sold. So I can hardly get mad if a journalist selling papers perceives the same thing.

Happens with every skillful player we have when they hit a patch of bad formRemember Colo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 1:55 pmI mean, our own fans create rumours like that seemingly every month - presuming he's on the out with the club and needs sold. Re: ASM out injured
If we got a bid upwards of 60m I'd honestly not be too fussed if we sold him. I don't think he will ever hit the level he thinks he can hit, he's just not productive enough, his finishing is abysmal at times and It kinda feels like defenders are learning how to defend against him, the amount of times he loses the ball now is becoming a hindrance imo. For us in our current state yeah he's an amazing talent to have, but I honestly don't see him being here in 2-3 years time if we grow as expected.
Re: ASM out injured
Part of that is down to our squad though, we don't really have much down the right. I think with a fit Trippier and a new right winger he'll be more productive. Can't just stick multiple players on him to mark him out of the game thenDon Sholeone wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 4:49 pmIf we got a bid upwards of 60m I'd honestly not be too fussed if we sold him. Hasn't he mostly played on the left when fit under Howe with Fraser out on the right?Beatski wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 6:55 pmPart of that is down to our squad though, we don't really have much down the right. Re: ASM out injured
I'd be more than happy with 60m assuming the funds went back into the team. Let the manager build his new team up. I don't think ASM is irreplaceable, and I agree that he loses the ball far more often than he creates a moment of magic.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 4:49 pmIf we got a bid upwards of 60m I'd honestly not be too fussed if we sold him. Yeah, what i mean is that because we dont have a lot to offer down the right (although Fraser is still decent on the right to be fair), a lot of our play goes down the left with ASM, who you can then just mark out of the game. With better quality on both flanks our opposition would have to worry about defending both and cant just commit to double marking ASM.Cabella's Invincible Hair wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 7:00 pmHasn't he mostly played on the left when fit under Howe with Fraser out on the right?
Both he and the squad have suffered from injuries lately, which have negatively impacted his and the squad as a whole's performances, but if you look at the (few) games where he's been fully fit and we've had a good right hand side, both him and the team have looked much better.
When he's having a bad game, have the right wing ever been having a good one? Or is the plan just give the ball to ASM and hope he does something. Does he come on and do worse, or just do as badly as the rest of the team?
If we could sell him for 60 mil we might be able to buy someone better, yeah (sell x and use the money to replace with better is often easier said than done mind). I'd prefer to keep one of our best, most exciting players who i really enjoy watching on his day though, as i think that 'his day' will be a lot more frequent with more options available on the rest of the pitch (and he can stay fit!). I'd also prefer for us to focus on improving the other areas of the pitch that need attention a lot more than the left wing this summer, as time and effort are still a finite resource.
He's still probably our best player (most goals and assists, most MOTMs), but comes under more criticism for varying between great and average than our players that are just consistently average at times.
