Re: January Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
The Berge one doesn't make sense to me, why loan out Shelvey and then loan him in, it seems like a lot of faffing about for a position we would ultimately look to improve in the summer regardless, would make more sense to look for a long term option and I dont see Berge as that solution. Don't want to knock the lad but I see everyone talk about how great he is but he's just spent the best part of 18 months in the championship without any real interest in him from clubs in the PL, so I don't really see how he's a solution in midfield when we could just keep hold of Shelvey for the next 6 months.

Interesting, I'd say this might happen before the end of the window
I'll Hazard a guess

Sheff Utd are f***ed and need to sell, 15m is a good price i think he would have been a good signing under Ashley not so sure now though.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 9:44 pmThe Berge one doesn't make sense to me, why loan out Shelvey and then loan him in, it seems like a lot of faffing about for a position we would ultimately look to improve in the summer regardless, would make more sense to look for a long term option and I dont see Berge as that solution. I thought the Berge dealw ould be a permanent signing, with Sheffield's apparent financial issues? At least their manager basically said as much haha. As For Shelvey, currently injured, out of contract at the end of the season, widely reported if he has two more league appearances he triggers a contract extension. Seems he's persona non grata currently, not in a bad way. But decent wages, and not a long term option. Berge seems an upgrade as an option, if only because it's someone younger that will be more likely to feature.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 9:44 pmThe Berge one doesn't make sense to me, why loan out Shelvey and then loan him in, it seems like a lot of faffing about for a position we would ultimately look to improve in the summer regardless, would make more sense to look for a long term option and I dont see Berge as that solution. Zaniolo is another name to keep an eye, he's already rejected Bournemouth as Milan is his preference but ourselves and Spurs did have an interest in him (now that might have cooled due to Gordon and Danjuma deals)
I'll Hazard a guess

Now, Zaniolo would be an interesting alternative to a Maddison style signing. Arguably cheaper, don't see it happening in January, though.lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 10:49 pmZaniolo is another name to keep an eye, he's already rejected Bournemouth as Milan is his preference but ourselves and Spurs did have an interest in him (now that might have cooled due to Gordon and Danjuma deals)
Also, whilst the signings of Kuol, Gordan and (probably) Ashby would not be part of the registration rules, Zaniolo would be. Although thinking about it, we have a place free from Wood going to Forest?
Still surprised about other outgoings not happening. Obviously a lot of talks of Shelvey, maybe Fraser.

Another player we've been linked with a lot lately is Djalo, can see this being a summer target.
Young Cb that can play across the back 4 and a ex team mate of Botman

Re: January Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
By the sounds of Howe's press conference he's off, but only if we can bring someone in to replace him, which will most likely be on loan, which I think is probably sensible as we may have targets for the summer lined up
I'll Hazard a guess

I don't want a player who's happy at their club. I want a player who wants to join us.

I know not Newcastle but Joao Cancelo off to Bayern
Just shows how crazy transfer window can be and deals can come out of nowhere.
