Match thread - Leicester v NUFC

Post by Toondes » Sat Sep 28, 2019 4:01 pm

Leicester City (a)

The Magpies return to Premier League action on Sunday, when they visit the King Power Stadium for a 4.30pm kick-off for live transmission by Sky,

The away section is sold out (2,650 places - a smaller allocation that in previous seasons).

Newcastle - who will wear their home strip- are looking for their third successive victory at this venue, following a 2-1 success in April 2018 and a 1-0 victory 12 months later.

The two sides have already met this season in the League Cup, City advancing on penalties at Gallowgate following a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes.

NUFC: Allan Saint-Maximin, Sean Longstaff, Andy Carroll and DeAndre Yedlin are all available, but Jonjo Shelvey misses out through injury.

Florian Lejeune is back in training but along with Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle, not available for selection at this point.

LCFC: James Maddison is rated very doubtful but not yet ruled out entirely.

On home territory so far this season, City have drawn 0-0 with Wolves, beaten Bournemouth 3-1 and Spurs 2-1.

The last team to win at the King Power was ourselves back in April, with a 3-0 defeat of Arsenal and a 0-0 draw with Chelsea after that.

Ahead of our game, Brendan Rodgers saw his Foxes win 4-0 at Luton Town in a League Cup Third Round tie on Tuesday night.

Ex-Magpie Ayoze Perez is yet to get off the mark for City after 334 minutes on the pitch in five PL fixtures and another 161 minutes in the LC.

Travel:

The RMT Union have suspended their threatened strike action on Cross Country Train services - something was set to have an impact on those going to Leicester by rail on Sunday.

Cross Country say they are working to reinstate timetabled services - hopefully meaning that anyone travelling via that operator to or from Leicester on Sunday won't be affected.

Any alterations to Cross Country timetables on Sunday should appear online here

I reckon we'll lose.

Steve will spout bollocks afterwards that gives the impression he knows what tactics are.

Don't know why but I fancy us to win this one 2-1 (Joelinton & Almiron).

First game I’ve gone to in years so I’m hoping it’s the same score line as last time (4-0 to us!)

Maddisson doubtful, I'm not that familiar as to how Leicester set up, but potential for Perez to start at CAM? Not scored yet for Leicester...

I think we will win if he shows some ambition and starts Saint-Maximin and actually starts an attacking line-up.

Newcastle to win 3-2 after going behind from an early Perez goal and Vardy doubling it up before the half. Joelinton late winner.
